This is far and away the best Axe FX clip I've heard to date

Geez. That sounded great...I didn't realize the Axe-FX could sound like that!

Cool! Let's hear that same tone dry without the arena vibe going on.

I second donbarzini's request. Between the great playing and the hugest, wettest delay and reverb ever, I'm having a bit of trouble focusing on the core "pissed off Marshall tone."

I third it. I dig the playing bigtime, but the effects are too heavy for my tastes and are masking the "amp" tone a bit. I've got a good feeling there is some nice "pissed off Marshall tone" under there somewhere, but I'd like to hear it for myself....

On second thought... don't worry about it. My Axe-FX Ultra gets here Thursday and project one for me is gonna be "pissed off Marshall tone" so I can just do a clip with minimal efx...

I like it but agree the delay is a bit much. Rather than decreasing the mix level, though, I'd turn the ducking on. Dial in about 6 dB of ducking. That way you'll get the delay when you stop playing but it won't clutter the main sound as much.

I really liked the "pissed off Marshall" tone Cliff had going on Sunday.

I'm going to do some tweaking and recording next weekend when I have some spare time.

Just got to say that you did an amazing job on this unit. This thing is going to get me back into recording and writing again.

I agree that the delay is a bit too much. I dialed it in with my desktop speakers while jamming to some songs. I just hit the record button in Cubase without spending any time setting everything up. When I listened to it with my studio phones the reaction on the delay setting was like "Holy shit!!" but I thought it sounded cool anyway. Thanks for the tip! I'm going to try to change the ducking setting.

Amazing tone and tasty playing dude ! But I have to say that i'm far from your results, even following your advices. Couldn't you directly upload this modified patch on axechange.net as everybody seems to love it.
I can't understand why your sound is so airy and real since i listen to it through the same stereo system my AFX is connected to.
If you recorded direct without any pre or post processing, it's a kind of mystery for me...Help me see the light ! please !!

It sounds as if he tweaked he Midrange freequency on the EQ. The Midrange is up pretty high. Id start there but of course the easiest way to duplicate that sound is to have him upload the patch.

Another thing to consider and which is a question many people ask is that the AXE-FX definitely brings out the guitars tone which is rare for a modelor, so The guitar used will definitely have a lot to do with copping that sound IMHO.

all the best!!

I'll try to upload the patch later tonight. I just have to create an account first and figure out how to get the patch out of the Axe-Fx box :)

And just as Ralph said the guitar plays a big role too. It doesn't sound the same with my Les Paul Custom. In fact I didn't like it that much with my LP. I'm using my Frankenstrat replica with poplar body, huge maple neck and single '59 humbucker on the clip.

No doubt! Until I got my Axe-FX, I had no idea that most of my guitars/pickups SUCK SAD ASS.

Especially my GMW.

I have uploaded the preset to http://www.axechange.net

Thanks
I reworked it into a kind of VH tone. Still some tweaks to do but the gain structure seems OK. And it's so easy to play, you really feel the tone.
With people like you, i progress every day in the knowledge of this amazing unit. Thanks !
I'll upload the patch if you like it...

Wow!!! That sounds amazing!  Yes, please upload your preset too.

I can't really take credit for the Lynch preset since Peter Thorn did all the hard work on the original. He did an amazing job on it.
