Update. Got the amp back yesterday. There were two things going on. Main problem was V1 took a dump. I had an old Telefunken in there and it completely crapped out. It was very old. Once I couldn't hear anything coming out of the amp. I pulled the fuses to check the power amp. I put one in wrong when I re-inserted it, causing a further failure. All of this would have been a breeze to diagnosis in a nice cool, dark club. I would have seen the preamp tube failure and consequently the fuse light too. I would have also been able to feel the tubes warmth in a cool environment. On a stage that is in full day light and it's about 95 degrees, nice warm Texas afternoon, it's really hard to figure stuff out. We were also supposed to be playing already adding some intensity to the situation. Not the best conditions to trouble shoot.

Lessons learned.

So maybe instead of a backup rig, you should carry a mobile, air conditioned dark room tent with you. Could be used for other backstage related purposes, too :D

That sounds wonderful. I wish! ;)

I'd get a Seminar head man. That's a killer sounding backup amp for sure! Make a "volume pedal" stomp box to roll back that gain a bit ;)

Eric

If I was gonna go there I would buy a TOL 50 watt head for the extra clean channel and the nice EG3 tone it would have. Down side of that back up amp is that it would weigh a ton. Looking for some thing a little smaller and lighter. So far Randal RM20 sounds like the way to have my module sound in a small package. Still looking though.

Rm20 - Plexi Module - BB Booster - Zen Drive - Guitar Volume Knob - Delay in Loop. Yep, I could hang with that.

Tommy,
Glad it was a simple thing that didn't require sending it back to Egnater. It sucks you didn't figure it out while on stage but live and learn!
I haven't used a backup in along time but this makes me reconsider, there's nothing worse than a piece of gear not working when fellow bandmates and an audience are staring at you.
It really F&*K's with your mindset before a show.

No lie man. I actually used to really have a bad time after something like this. I would be really pissed about it and it showed. I was freaking out while it was happening before we started playing, but once there was nothing I could do about it, I just let it go. In the past I would have let it effect the performance. I just went on and had a good time. There are some good things about being 49. ;)

Good one there Tommy. I need to control my temper. It gets to me more often than not. Yesterday my audio interface took a crap on me while I had my headphones on. It suddenly sent out a huge white noise bang after the glitch that was 10 times louder than whatever it was I was listening to. It felt like it had drilled into my skull. I yanked the cord out in a sudden fit of rage and it broke the plug connector. I calmed down quickly, so my interface survived! :D

Temper... It's many a man's fault.
