Obviously I am just a random guy with an opinion but from what I see the seller is in the wrong here 110%. Most of the time when I see a forum dispute like this the seller, or whoever is being called out is very eager to clear their name.
If the OP was lying or exaggerating I feel it would have been shown here. The seller would have been like yea right here is our conversation and posted up facts to support his side. I have seen that happen many times where someone "calls out" a bad seller, the seller comes in to post the facts and makes the OP look like a complete moron. That is not the case here. Lots of excuses and shadiness based from what I can see with all of the information posted.
Of course I could be wrong and maybe the seller just does not want to clear his name in the public for whatever reason. Doubt it but it is possible.
Buying and selling gear online is scary because not everyone is honest and people get the shaft all the time and screwed out of their money. I can't trust ebay for anything more than a $100 pedal and I am even scared to sell on places like that in fear of a shady buyer who wants to break something or decides he does not like it anymore and then I basically have to buy my shit back and eat the costs.
For those reasons forums are usually the best place to buy and sell gear and there should be no Bullshit and absolutely zero tolerance for shady Bullshit. I do feel the mods should step in, ask the seller for proof of the claims against him to be untrue and if that cannot be provided a full ban should be issued. Not trying to be a baby or a forum cop but the forum classifieds should be a place to get cool gear and to help out your fellow musician. NOT to screw someone over to make a quick buck.
