Man, used these at the gig last night and just killer tone!! I also put an Eminence Tonkerlite in my 112 Eggie cab and it sounds great. Lightweight too. Very pleased with it so far. Did I ever say that I love this amp??.......  :D

Oh, and Richedie.....the boosted Bassman sounds killer. I just have a cheapie Danelectro cool cat transparent O/D and it sounds great. I think almost any boost pedal would kill with the Bassman. Bet you could play a hard rock gig all night on the Bassman alone with a pedal.

Matt and Eric, you guys and the COD.....now you've got me curious to try one!

Yep thats why I want to pick up a used RM20 combo for city gigs. Itll be Bassman and boost!

COD is awesome. Like seriously awesome. If that SRV tone interests you at all, just get one.

My take on the COD:

You know that classic SRV blues sound of a TS808 into vintage fenders? How the TS drives it, smooths out some of the highs, tightens up the lows, etc, etc. But in a GOOD way?

To my ears, The COD is almost like that, frequency wise, but without any pedal. Its all inner tube goodness going on. And It has ZERO pedal-transistory-sound nonsense. Its just like, a match made i heaven for a strat neck pickup.

Its a very sophisticated sounded module. Very dynamic too, responds to picking attack really well.

Awesome to hear about the good gig!

That's the fucking tone (in my book). Need to get my hand one one of these...which SRV sound would you say it sounds most like? I think one of my favorite srv tones is on his version of little wing (particularly the clean/slight OD parts), will it do that? With SRV, so much of it is his playing, and i'm sooo far from that...but still I want a COD :)

For the rm20, or I guess all the randall series, when you plug in an egnater module it goes to the A channel automatically right? Can the rm20 be modded to accept dual or is that only the rm100s?

I love the SRV tone too.........I even have an SRV strat! Just can't play like him......although not many can. Man, I really have to get the COD

Nick,

Which channel on the COD is getting you a SRV type sound? A or B?

Dude!! It's like you were reading my mind when you posted this!

I have been using a VX and EG5, and I just got the Bman and SL2 in the mail yesterday.
We had an outdoor gig this afternoon and I only used the Bman and SL2--JEEZ, what great tone!!

I used a Keeley SD-1 in front of the Bman if I needed a little extra somethin', but overall I was just grinning ALL DAY!

Cool!

I have a big jam session this week and the Bman and SL2 it ill be. I may even have my Xotic BB Preamp by then.

I am hoping to pull ome nice harder rock tones out of the Bassman with the BB. I thought the BBE Boosta Grande might be thicker sounding as a boost according to some reports but I picked up the BB. My clean boost is in the loop and it rocks.

Ive got a Keeley SD-1 that I use with my Bman too, its killer on channel 2, but sounds a bit dark on channel one. Im having trouble with the balance between the two channels because channel 2 has a lot more top end than channel 1 so when it sounds perfect on channel 2, its a really dark kinda jazzy tone on channel 1.

Not sure how you have your SD-1 EQ'd, but I have the vol @ 12:00, tone about 11:00 and gain at 8:00...

I really use it more to bump the mids and goose the front end a little.

Well, I have limited access to the COD (:I only play it when I go over Matt's house to drink. haha)

But Channel A and a strat are just amazing. Both are killer channels, and can do a ton of sounds, depending on where you set the gain.

Are you still playing out with the BMan? Can I ask how you have the Bman channel A set and how it affects the SL2? I have to have my Bman channel volumes cranked and my SL2 channel vol's on about 9:00. I hate that because I think the SL2 sounds better when the channel volumes are up higher close to noon, but the Bman channel A limits this.

Glad you like the boosted Bassman. I stopped using a boost on any module because to me it sounded too much like a pedal and lost some of the organic and bigness of the modules alone. Now, I just lean over and crank the gain on the Bman if I need more. An EQ in the loop works better for my needs - helps with some leads.

I can tell you more after 22 Nov gig. We haven't played in a while, although I think you have a point on the bassman A volume. I really have to have both master and pre up on that channel, but I think my channel A on the SL2 seems to be around 10:00 or so for the module master....maybe a bit higher.

Try the SL2 with the channel master on about noon and see what you think. I was tipped off on doing this to get the power tubes cooking more! However, you and I are limited by the Bassman channel A. Maybe one of the other clean modules has a louder channel A? Sucks, because with the channel master cranked on the Bassman you are hitting the effects in the loop much harder! Not good. Another problem with the Bassman is how A is dark and B is bright! I can't wait till the E2 is released so I can solve some of this.

Doing this only hits the PI tube harder, it wont help with driving the power tubes.

After heavy tweaking and comparing, the module that best takes to my pedals is the B'Man. No question.

Great module! My favorite clean/mid grind module for sure.
