Honestly, I felt like the JCM 800 ish ch was very lacking in anything I liked. Made me work way to hard for what jumps off the neck on the BE.Damn - that sounds killer. What was your reason for getting rid of it / what did you replace it with? Killer playing by the way.
The 50w is more than enough to play any outside venue. I’m assuming you’d have PA support either way.Unless I have a need to play a lot of outside venues, I would always choose 50 over 100
50's work to. But even miked I seem to have to run my volumes about double when on outdoor stages. A lot of volume kinda dies in the open air. And maybe I'm the only one, but I don't like the feel of most amps past a certain volume. 4 to just past noon is typically a sweet spot. The 50w is more than enough to play any outside venue. It's not like 100 Watts is double as loud as 50. In fact the loudness is almost the same but you get more punch, bass and headroom. And for an amp that gets its distortion exclusively from preamp tubes there is no reason for choosing 50 Watts over 100 Watts , in my opinion.Unless I have a need to play a lot of outside venues, I would always choose 50 over 100
Michael Nielson makes great videos but your amp in the room will sound Nothing like what you hear on his videos. My videos have marginal playing but what you hear gives you a very good idea of how the amp will sound in your room.I watched a bunch of youtube videos but when I watched the one from Michael Nielsen I realized the BE 50 deluxe and the 100 deluxe really are a bit different . I really liked the plexi clean on the 100 as well as the other channels.
Actually. That is exactly what it means. But double the volume is nothing more than 2-3 db’s. And not very noticeable and then you are right. I know you're right . There's more doctored stuff on Youtube that makes a Crate practice amp sound great !! That's what they do for a living .Michael Nielson makes great videos but your amp in the room will sound Nothing like what you hear on his videos. I get doing a backing track to hear how it sits in the mix, However, you can EQ any amp and mix to sit well and it's not what it will sound like out of the boat.
4 EL34's will always provide more punch! Funny thing is we tend to get lost with the 'in room' vibe versus how it sits in the band mix -at least I do. What makes me think of this is many artists use 50w heads. Maybe they cut better? After playing the 50,I bought the 100. I liked the feel more, the punch, authority, and the plexi ch better than the 50.But the 50 is killer too
They sucked. seriously Played one and it was not much to it, just a weird amp.Always wanted a Mojave Dirty Boy
