Behringer Clones

How do you guys feel about all this? Behringer doesn't have a great reputation or track record, but they are doing something that, while controversial, is actually working for them. Their clones of rare synths for example is bringing gear to people who could not dream of obtaining the originals, and their quality has improved over the years. Is Behringer a real brand now?

I think most purists would fail a blindfolded Pepsi challenge.

100% agree. Decent components and layout, how is this going to be different than any other pedal besides maybe the switch failing and not using NOS diodes or transistors. If it sounds good, it is good.

can't comment on their quality .... never bought or owned anything from them ...

but I can say .... they are doing some clones of some cool circuits .... and even some old school rack units

depends, the synth stuff i definitely understand

the cheap plastic boss clones is kind of tiresome, but whatever i'm not buying them
A better word is - inexpensive- because they’re definitely not cheap. I’ve used them for years (like a normal person) and I’ve never broken one. It’s hard plastic and as matter of fact 90% of everything made everywhere is plastic and it holds up just fine.

Intellectual property theft is always great, and I'm glad you are able to save 50% on a mass produced electronic consumer grade product

I've owned like 3 and every single one has disintegrated over the course of normal gigging, but different strokes

There are plenty of companies that make clones of other gear. Fuck, how many Klon pedals are there now? But for Behringer to clone old synths that are out of production and slap modern features on them (MIDI, USB) is really winning over the synth crowd.

A Marshall was a clone of the Bassman with the parts available in England.

How many companies make Strat copies? Or Dumble copies?

If you can readily buy the parts and assemble it, there is no intellectual property to be protected.

I think you’re under the misconception that virtue signaling is somehow taking the higher ground.
Everything made is “mass produced consumer grade”. You may be the only person who has ever “disintegrated” one let alone 3. Pictures or it didn’t happen.

Why do they behringer people get SOOO upset whenever someone brings up the cons?

There's pros too. Circuits are circuits, they certainly sound fine, they're just cheaply made and don't come up with any innovations, that's a simple fact

Me thinks the boomershitter @TheBiggestJerk doth protest too much

I don't go in for their cheap plastic stomps, but I think it's really cool that they bring such a wide range of classic circuits back to production.

Protest?
You mean call out faulty logic.

I knew it was only a matter of time before you abandoned any actual argument for name calling and insults. That how to tell a real loser. Watch next you’ll challenge me with some steroid laced pissing contest.

That's the problem dude, you assumed I was having a debate with you in the first place because you were too stupid to understand the context of anything.

I literally don't care :hys:

Use your behringer pedals boomer! Have at it!
