Best cab company at the moment?

It's hard to go wrong with cabs now. Mesa builds great cabs, Bogner cabs are great regardless of who builds them. StoneAge cabs as well are top notch.

I used to swear by 4x12s'. After playing my Port City 1x12 (x2) rig for about a year, I can't go back to 4x12s. It's weird, the speaker phasing is now messing with my ears. Anyway, my vote is Port City.

A pair of 1x12's or 2x12's can sound really good, especially when you spread them out.

I love my Splawn 4x12 Creamback 65 loaded! But for pub/bar gigs it's pretty hard to beat my 2 DS mini Friedman 1x12's One Creamback and one V30 I set them left and right of the drummer

Kerry Wright cabs - nobody builds a better cab IMHO
Runner up - StoneAge
I second Kerry Wright cabs. Flat out awesome.

I love my Mesa Stiletto. Stock with WELL broken in V30's.
Everything sounds tight and punchy through it.

Agreed, column effects and the phasing of a 4/12 is awful. I will never go back.

Next compare vertical and horizontal 2x12, Ill never go back to horizontal, again column effect.

Port City 2x12 OS is pretty dang good. I don't see myself ever getting rid of it. V30/Creamback H combo.

I would say Zilla, I got a super fat boy with cream back 65Ms. It has a similar feel to my mesa recto oversized 2x12 but it smooths out the upper mid harshness and is tighter and more refined in the bass while still sounding huge. Really great company to work with too.

Could you explain what the "column effect" is? I only own 4x12s and horizontal 2x12s.
