What is the best modern metal amp?? like the perfect balance of compression and that mid range sound????,like children of bodom ??

A Randall Rm100 or RM4 with a good 6L6 poweramp and either a Salvation mods Angel B module, a Jaded Faith Mods VHT ULtraLead or the new sexxy pic around the MTS forum the Snakebite! and in addition for an even more deadly tone the new jaded faith FogLifter presence/density board

I would vote for my absolutely monstrous JCM 2000 TSL with the loop jumpered for an additional tightness/gain/volume boost with a boss NS-2 running out in front but i wanna keep that little secret to myself:) which i have just done a poor job of

Sure, I'll take a stab.....
In the end if this thread, I'm sure
every Amp on the planet will be mentioned.
From a Marshall TSL, Orange Rockoverb to
a Fender Blackface with a Boost pedal....

Listen, out of all the Amps that I've owned
the Diezel Line of Amps kicks alot of Ass in the
Metal Dept. Herbert/VH4 are tough to beat!!
Bogner Uberschall or a good ol standby, the
Mesa Triple Rectifier!! They all Crank out Killer
Metal Tones in Spades.

Amps I haven't played that look like serious
Metal Machines are the DAR FBM, Rhodes Colossus,
Fortin/Randall Natas, etc....

Well I would argue Alexi's live tone has always sucked. Just about any high gainer can get his recorded tones eq'd properly. To be honest, he's more of a player than tone snob.

+1. I hate his tone.....

I vote stock JCM800 with a stock SD-1 in front.....but I'm old school

most modern metal amp ATM, anything Mike Fortin, especially his Thrasher. So nice

I hope it is Rhodes... Since I have one in The works.

But all the high gainers can sound pretty fantastic with a boost and loop EQ....AND some playing that is decent.

For under 1K ASG Hybris. Amazing amp. I had the chance to play one at NAMM.

My current amp... Which will be flipped soon so I can stay ahead of the curve

Concur.

However, if I "had to pick one amp necessary to tackle an onslaught of metal music henceforth"?

I'd pick the Herbert or the Hagen.

This is not Diezel fanboism happening, it's just the truth. They're the best sounding amps, and although I am FAR from a "metal only" player, I'd like my tone to at least be delicious while I djent my way to stardom.

For Death Metal Rhythm tones, I STILL pick the Ampeg VH140C head. There are better amps for lead work, but for rhythm, it made me sell all my expensive high gain amps. I am a die hard tube fanatic, but this is still my go to. I really liked my Pitbull UL, but this dethroned it. Diezels have always sounded too sterile to me, and have not played the Rhodes or new Thrasher amp. I know the 5153 gets some love in metal circles. Never cared for it too much either. Peters stuff kicks ass, and Mako as well. I don't believe there is one "standard" amp, except maybe the 5150/6505 which has been a standby for years now.

Alexi use's or used one of the 2 versions of Lee Jackson's Metaltronix preamp for most of his stuff..

Me personally I like the Baron Amps K2 & K88

Diezel Herbert/Hagen, ENGL Invader/Savage/SE, EVH 5150iii
