Just as a reference since my pickups were mentioned. Three guitars, three pickups not changes in amp settings just switched guitars
The Roxy is the most modern. Dry, immediate, articulate and tight bass. 17.6k here. It's got a 6khz resonant peak vs the JB at 5.5khz and an Aldrich at 5.8khz
The Whiskey is more traditional high output tone. Not honkey mids, juicy, better dynamics and harmonic. Not as tight or modern as the Roxy but not loose or muddy by any definition. Resonant peak at 4.9khz vs the JB at 5.5khz or Custom Shop RTM at 4.4khz
Wicked 8 tonally and feel wise sits between both of those. While the resonant peak is close to the JB at 5.6k, the strong ALNICO 8 helps the low end, give it more compression than the Roxy, but the mids are perceived as a wall of mids vs spike mids. Tonally more of everything actually. 15k as played in the video. This guitar has a basswood body that tends to have subdued highs, slightly scooped, a bouncy low end. The W8 compliments this guitar.
