Best power amp for wet/dry/wet setup?

I'm looking to setup a wet/dry/wet setup at home and am wondering what type of power amp is better, solid state or tube? I can see the benefits of both, solid state keeping the sound exactly like the sound coming out of the effects. Yet the sound coming out of the head is sweet because it's getting warmed up by the power amp section tubes. :confused:

Any thoughts?
 
If you're getting power tube tone out of your amp's line out, then I would say something like an HH V800 is hard to beat. But they are big, and HEAVY.
 
If you are going to keep your wet speakers wet only go w/ a solid state amp. As long as you're not playing stadiums you don't need a lot of volume for the wet side. You might want to check out the ART SLA-2.
 
I used the Art SLA2 and a RT2/50. Both are great but the RT2/50 is a lil warmer sounding
 
I was actually thinking of running it: efx send - processor - power amp - speakers (there would be nothing going back into the amps efx return). I'm pretty sure in this scenario it would only be the preamp tone.

I have looked into the HH, because every one that I look up to has it or has used it. This rig won't leave my home, as I don't get paid enough to bust out three cabs at a show. Having said that, I have a triaxis rig setup in stereo and it is glorious playing Floyd with a ping pong stereo delay. I'm looking to get that sound out of my Engl SE.
 
One more question, is there any reason why I can't split my stereo cabs, so that I have the power amp running to the two outside inputs and the head running to the two inside inputs? (assuming the ohms are all the same-8 ohms)

Why not? As long as you like your amp running at 4 Ohms (I prefer 16Ohm on all amps I tried).

However I would try both, a wet cab and a dry cab as well as the split solution. Better would be a 4x12 and two Bogner Cubes or something the like.

I recently got a Peavy IPR 1600 Solid State (weighs 7 pounds) and it sounds really good wet/dry/wet.
