There's was one on Reverb a while back...For $7,000!!!
Reverb prices are far from the reality. The current guitar prices in general are owerinflated. Wood prices are back , energie prices are back, logisitic prices too…. only salaries going not back, so in the near future we will see correction in the guitar prices.

There's been several mentions of Hermansson in this thread. I'm currently in line to have him mod my DR Multiwatt...but I keep going back and forth on if I really want to spend that kind of money shipping a head overseas for a mod. His clips sound really fucking cool!
Don't do it. Just get yourself another boost pedal or something. A stock Dual Rectifier with an OD up front is a great metal tone.

I totally get it . The Satan sounds unique compared to my others . What did you think of it
I really liked it. It worked so well in a band setting.
It didn't need an OD pedal, which was great.
I was running it through a Boogie Recto 4x12(360w), and it was tight/precussive.
If I was going to be in "modern" metal band, no question, it'd be the amp I buy.(again)

Metal metal: Diezel VH4 at UltraSound Rehearsal studios in NYC

An amp that could do most metal but other things i.e. what I would buy if I wanted to cover metal: Mesa Mark V

Right on! Ultrasound studios had the most insane amp line up of any rehearsal studio ive ever used. Thats where i first tried out pittbulls, and diezels. Used to rehearse there with subzero a million years ago.

I prefer a JMP or single channel JCM.

After that probably a Rectifier. You know....the amps everyone used during that era. Pretty much any of the modern highgain amps can do metal. But I see it as the gear everyone was using. That's what I hear in my head.

The EVH 5150 III Stealth 100 I just acquired, it just relegated all my other amps to sit in the corner (Peavey XXX and Ultra Plus, 5150 Iconic and even my Rev C modded Triple)

Always a fan of the plain old 2203. I tend to favor a dryer less gainy or less saturated sound for metal (kind of counterintuitive) to let the bass cover ground. Been digging the Wizard MCII in that context.

^^^Listen to this great advice and save a ton of money! Maybe try some different pickups too if it still isn't perfect for you.

Yep, I can’t think of any metal guys I like that couldn’t make it happen with a boosted recto or marshall, honestly.

I know this doesn't count but my Rectoverb and Quick Rod together is pretty satisfying

No one is disputing that boosting these amps gets the job done. I've tried a number of different boosts with my MW and yeah it sounds good, but I gravitate towards other amps in my stable for metal - namely my Skeleton Key and Marks II/III/IV.

From clips it sounds like the Hermansson mods are pretty drastic in the sense that he really reworks the whole preamp section and basically turns it into a different amp. That could be a blessing or curse depending on how much you enjoy the original tone. One things for sure, he gets nothing but praise from those that actually get hands on his amps.

It’s your amp, mod away if you want to. But have you played one in person? I think the multi watts sound great stock but if was me I would just sell it and focus on amps you like if the MW doesn’t do it for you.
