Hey guys could you tell me what you think the best speaker cable is in your own opinion, I've been reading up on this lately and even though I use a monster cable studio pro 1000, I've read about all kinds of better cables, like the Proco fat max 8 ga. cables. Also the one that Tone Merchants sells that the name escapes me at the moment... I want to say Evidence Audio but not sure. Peter, if you see this can you tell me what you use, cause I'm sure thats what the amp was "tuned" with.

Thanks,

-Nick

The one that Tone Merchants sells is in fact Evidence audio. Some people swear by them. I have one of their guitar cables, but I can't speak to its quality as I have never really A/B'ed it.

evidence audio siren cables rule, cheap enough to grab and awesome enough to stop worrying about those cables. i've blind a/b'd other cables and prefer them over others. and if you have tone merchants call tony @ EA direct, you can have him put whatever connectors you prefer, straight or angle. they're just a clean solution that doesn't influence tone, only delivers with the maximum headroom. that's my pick, no more thinking about it.

Thanks guys, thats kinda the answer I was hoping for, haha. Just for kicks though has anybody tried the fatmax, I'm most likely going to opt for the evidence anyway because I found the name on Tone Merchants the last night after I posted this and did a little research and they seem to be the best bet so far.

Thanks again,

-Nick

Evidence Audio cables are the real deal for opening up the sound of the instrument and the amp with their speaker cables. Actually I prefer to use both as using only one of them will not have the total effect on your sound if you use another brand of one of the cables (speaker or instrument).

I have a serious dislike for Monster Cables. They can color the sound, which can be a good thing if you are trying to tame a certain kind of guitar or speaker from being say, too bright.

I just want the actual instruments tone to come through, and use the amp for any coloration I desire. jmho

I hear you all too well on that, I've always known you should use a good cable, but never really looked into it that much, but I'm pretty sure I'll be ordering some evidence stuff pretty soon, they sound like spiffy or something. Monster Cables were just kinda the best cable around here that was immediately available, untill I went on Eddies Guitars' website and saw that they have Evidence Audio cables, and Guitar Center can get the Fatmax... bad case of being out of the know and spending money on something I'm not that happy with, because I thought it was the best I could get at the time, but your right about the coloration which I think is on purpose on their part, but I'd rather have it more linear. They are however good cables and have a great warranty, that I've had to use because of a bone head singer. Like I said though thats exactly what I wanted to hear about the Evidence cables, so hells yeah. :anmachen:

Thanks again,

monsters are pretty cloudy and muffled sounding compared to evidence cables, ea gives tons of headroom and clarity (i'm talking about my experience with the lyric hg). the only thing good about monster is when you buy them from gc, any time there's something wrong with them, you just go swap out for a new one, no questions, but i've had no troubles with my ea cables.

+ 1 makes the Studio Pro Monster sound doggy, bassy and dull.

Just picked one up from Eddies, haha, AWESOME, thanks guys.

Right now I'm using Monster and Planet Waves. I'd like to get some of these cables. The only problem is that if I want to change everything in my rig to these cables, it will cost me $710.

Yeah, but with your sweet rig (avatar), how can you not?

Just got done with the break-in period, this thing is heavenly, I ordered a lyric hg as well. Its just wails now the bass is tight, and VERY clear, which with as much bass as this amp has, it helps ten fold. Its WAY more polished sounding is the best I can describe it. Its smoother then a babys bottom but with an ass like Vida Guerra, tight and fat, and just enough bite, come to think of it Vida Guerra's ass is pretty smooth too... its like Vida Guerra's ass. AWESOME!

I've got some pretty posh OFC hi-fi speaker cable I put jacks on (can't remember what brand it is though). It's the same stuff my hi-fi uses and I cut some surplus off each of my hi-fi wires as they were more than long enough.

It completely takes the piss though when you figure it's going into my cheap marshall internal speaker wiring with blade connectors and all, having travelled only 2.5 feet down the decent stuff into the back of the cab. I keep forgetting I need to rewire it at some point to see if it improves! :)

Anyone else rewired their marshall cab? Does it make much difference? There's more length of wire in that than my speaker leads. I never A/B'ed the decent speaker leads, as my old ones went duff so I made the posh ones to stop/avoid shagging my Marshall power amp tubes!

My guitar lead makes a big difference as it's a Hi-Z low output signal. That's Van Damme cable. Never A/B'ed input leads either apart from Guitar shop supposed "high quality" leads and the Van Damme stuff that was best available in the cable shop I looked at. I was gonna buy myself a reel of some decent cable and a bag of neutrik jacks at some point so I can wire myself up a load at whatever lengths I like for less money at some point. Obviously if you guys know what's good for instrument coax I'll get a reel of that instead (funds permitting!).

Another vote for Evidence, great product and Tony is a great guy as well!

wow everyone seems to like these Evidence Siren's...

How do you guys think they compare to George L's?

I replaced my George L's with the Evidence Siren and it was a monumental improvement. Everything is much more clear and crisp.
