SFW amazing sounds!! And I think sound great also with maple neck and fingerboard, your video is the confirm!
Do you have only volume pot connected in your guitar or also a tone pot?
Nuno used the L500L model, It is more low output and near to a Paf output and I think He used in the past the Wilde pickups and not the Bill Lawrence USA. I've tried the bill lawrence usa and It sounds sterile and very cold without dynamic!

No, I have the tone pot connected. Even with the pot at "10" there is a slight treble roll off, and I like that. Not sure which model Nuno actually uses, as there has been so much mis information about these pickups online. I do know that the Washburn N2 I had came with a Bill Lawrence USA L500XL pickup installed.

Joel I watch Evert Video you post & your tone is awesome. Thank you for posting so many pickup videos. Now if only I could decide what I might switch to from EMG's, if I switch at all.

Thanks! I'm just trying to share my hack playing with the world..lol! I just figure it's easy to show what different pickups sound like through a hot rodded Marshall style amp. It's also cheaper to do pickup demos than pedal demos. lol! One of these days I'll get around to figuring out a better sounding setup.

As a funny side note, I was watching the Extreme Pornografetti 25 Live DVD and noticed Nuno's two Marshall heads behind the wall of Randall NBK100 amps. Made me laugh.

I have a Bill and Becky 500 as well and you described it well. Great note seperation and thinner up top but that also is Nuno's signature sound. His leads always cut but they were definitely not thick. Anyway, I had emailed them years ago and to my knowledge, he didn't actually use the XL but the 500L. I have the L and it is plenty hot in case you are worried about it's ability to crunch up. I am sure some Nuno nerds will fill in the gaps.

I believe L500-L is what you want for Nuno, just under the XL gain wise.

I went back and checked my paperwork from 2008 and it says L-500...I spoke to Becky and told her what I wanted so no idea if it's the same as the L but it definitely doesn't lack gain and is Nuno all day long.

Nuno was and probably still is using a JCM 2000 with a Rat pedal. There's pics everywhere including here. I just yesterday looked for a new rig rundown. Couldn't find a new one.

Dude, I thought your playing and tone was EXCELLENT....Great sound from that Splawn, no surprise.....they sound great!

Either way, Nuno is a great player with great tone but he is a bit of a prick (or seems that way to me anyway) so I wouldn't expect him to tell anyone the truth anyway if he knew his "secret" sauce. Essentially a rat into something crunchy and MArshallesque is what he goes with live and the rest is just his technique and feel.

His secret sauce is a Fortin Modded Marshall like I have been saying ...LOL

Thanks! I do love my Splawn. IMHO, it's one of the best amps I've ever owned. The other one that comes to mind was a 66 Bassman that I owned years ago and foolishly sold.

I've had a love-hate relationship with 500xl for years. Right now I'm loving it in one of my partscasters.
