I love SRV but that dude ushered in a hoard of total bullshit. And that shit put a stain on blues. Now I hate blues and I never want to play blues. Blues originally was poor black dudes just tryin to somehow get by. Then it became posers in zoot suits...with a Gucci belt of harmonicas.

But blues is the base of rock and thus my playing. So I cant escape it, it's in my playing DNA.

Its a progression. Listen to early EVH...it's a bunch of Billy Gibbons/Clapton/Montrose/Hendrix licks repurposed...with pizazz. And those guys repurposed old blues licks...with pizazz.

LOL, gucci belt of harmonicas....I like your take on it, there is a lot of accuracy there. You forgot fedoras, wingtips, news boy caps, bowling shirts, and guys named doc who use words like mojo. I kind of detest pure cliches like that. The "wish I was t-bone" approach on guitar is the flavor of the minute right now, at least around here. I don't let that get me down though. I just play the stuff I like. If I can pay some bills doing it, who cares what anyone thinks.
