Yeah sure laugh it up you Hippy lovers. Thing is, if you read Guitar For The Practicing Musician every month, or Guitar PLayer and you looked at the same columns every month, those 2 idiots from Blind Melon jumped out. Not since Yngwie did anyone dish out soo much shit in a magazine about other artists.

And back then, i had to hear this fucking song 8 times a day and yes, it made me want to punch something.

No, it only took me 2 times to want to punch him. But would you say that in a magazine about a fellow artists that you'd probably run into in real life?

Their guitar players were the 2 biggest dickheads. They were in the listening room in one of the big Guitar Magazines and you guys should have heard the shit they were spewing. The trashed Satriani and Dream Theater really hard. Their comments were about the same as you see when a 13 year old trashes some YouTube video.

I'd have to read exactly what they said but them saying they dont like Stach's or DT's music or saying they think they over play or have horrible tone in back handed ways hardly makes them dickheads.

If that were the case then this place it full dickheads.

Well, they new this stuff was going to print and this was the mid 90's so it was one of the few sources for info getting out, there was no youtube and every moron didn't have a camera on them.

I remember they said that they wished the could punch the guys from the Spin Doctors in the face. I'm guessing they were a bit jealous since the SPin Doctors were huge at one point.

And they did say that they thought that one particular Satch song sucked soo bad that they felt embarressed for him. Well where are they now and where is Satch and Dream Theater? Fuck them!

Well the punch in the face comment was a dickhead thing to say. All the other was just musical tastes which I have no problem with.

If you grew up in the early 90's you would feel the same way about wanting to punch the Spin Doctors guy in the face.

I dont feel that way today but back in 94 I did and I dont care if anyone else thinks I am a dick. If you had to listen to "Princes" for the fourth time in a hour on the radio it can cause even the strongest man to break and lash out in a violent frothing rage.

Oh man... even though I cut my teeth in the 80's some of my favorite bands were from the 90's. I'm not like some people my age who don't like the 90's music in favor of what the 80's brought.

While I didnt dig the Spin Doctors at all and punching them in the face does sound fun.. I just wouldnt say that in a magazine.

I hung out with these dudes on their bus when they came to Tampa,
totally cool, super funny and a blast to hang with.
The show was killer too.
I read that interview and I dont think they completely trashed
Satch and DT just comin' from the songwriter, band view.
I respect Satch/ DT and have been to the G3 show and after about
10 minutes of each player got bored...Dont get me wrong, incredible
talents far beyong my reach but after a few minutes its just boring.
The whole crowd was guitar players pointing, tapping and talking about
scales and modes.
I don't find Carl Roa boring though and like him the best. He's very inspiring! Amazing!
