Bman and T/D hum in channel A

4 people have tested this including me.

Maybe this is a MOD 100 issue. MOD 100 owners - please test for a buzz on channel A in your Bman and T/D modules. Module gain at 9:00, module master at 3:00. Thanks to all.

I definitely get a buzz with the Bman on channelA and a few others in the Mod100.It isn't as noticeable on the 50 or M4 so It is in the 100 moreso than the others.Ramble, ramble :D

Cool Jason - we are narrowing this down. I Pm'd Jeff and he said he would test our settings in a MOD 100 along with Bruce. This just proves that most Egnater owners don't have the MOD 100. If they did I think we'd see a lot more people going....WTF is this? More gain - less noise. HUH?

Does anyone else notice this? With a low gain of about 10:00, and a module master level of about 2:00 or 3:00, these two modules will hum in my MOD 100. None of my other modules do this in channel A. My DLX and VX are completely silent with the same settings.

I've moved them around to different positions, as well as moved the amp, changed tubes, used different guitars, nothing changes. I really love these two modules, but this drives me nuts.

Funny thing is they both quiet down when I max the gain and back off the module master. This works, but you lose the prinstine cleans.

I will be getting a brand new MOD50 with BMAN and SL2 from Egnater arriving this Tuesday. I will definitely try it and see what happens. I'll let you know what I find.

Val - thanks in advance for checking this out

Russ - I appreciate your input. You and Jason are the only ones comfirming the problem that I'm having. But only in the MOD 100 it seems. Lucky me!

So strange - why is it only the MOD 100 that does this? Even if I move the module around to different slots it buzzes exactly the same way. The fan? Does the MOD 50 have a fan?

The only thing that's consistent is the modules that buzz (T/D, Bman) are Fender based circuits. Of course my DLX is Fender based and it's quiet. Damn!

Just thinking out loud but maybe the fan is bad???? We did have a bunch of them that had hum in the MOD 50 and they were the fans for MOD100s.

I thought it could be the fan too, but why would only two of my modules buzz? And they'll do it an any slot and at any gain except max. Then they're quiet. Maxing the gain makes them quiet. It makes no sense. And the noise doesn't sound like the typical hum you get with gain - it's more of a buzz. It's there even with my guitar volume off.

If you can get the Bman and T/D to buzz with my settings in a MOD 100, be sure to slowly turn the gain clockwise and listen to the buzz. It will get louder and louder until about 95%. Then it will go away. This is only in channel A. Thanks.

Hey bscfo1,
Just saw this thread.
I have a MOD 100 with the T/D and BMan and I don't hear that buzz you are talking about.
I usually keep the the gain on the Bman at about 1:00 with the master at about 3:00.
On the T/D I keep the gain at about 1:00 with the master at 12:00.

Russ - Maybe you're right about the pot, it does seem to come from the gain knob. Strange that two of my modules do the same thing exactly. Bad set of pots?

Eddie - thanks for checking that out. Your the first MOD 100 owner to say you've haven't noticed any humming or buzzing. That tells me it's probably not coming from the head. When did you buy your MOD 100, T/D, and Bman modules? Mines almost 2 years old.

I tried it w/ my M4 and DLX, and I don't have this issue.

Eric

Thanks Eric - Do you have a T/D or Bman that you can test? My DLX is pretty quiet too. The VX seems to be the quietest of the "clean" modules for channel A though. For me and Jason at least.

I got my MOD 100 December 03.

When I got my head it only took the single channel modules. I was one of the first people that had it converted to accept the Dual chanel modules and the Egnater boys did it at N/C.

The Bman module is about three years old and the T/D is about a year old.

Awesome customer service!

Thanks Eddie - that's pretty cool that they were able to do that. Going from 3 to 6 channels must have been a treat for you. I love having 3 different amps at my disposal in my MOD 100. Every time I switch modules it inspires me to play something completely different.

The guys are the best, Jeff said that he would test the T/D and Bman with Bruce on a MOD 100 with my settings. Now that's customer service!

I know those guys probably have no finger nails left with the shit they piled themselves up with :D But they are coming around  So for now I just run the VX in the 1st channel and It's FUCKING SWEET :rawk:

Frank from the Amp Lounge is the best! He's the one who turned me on about updating the amp to dual modules. Without say, going from 3 to 6 channels was a major plus.
This is the longest I've ever owned an amp and still love it!
I think I'm going to have to buy a VX, don't know were I'm going to put it, guess I'll have to buy an E2.
