I’ve had several Ecstasies.

2007 101b
1997 101b
2009 20th A
2014 20th B

...[XTC opinions]...

So I bought a 2007 XTC 101B not too long ago and I'm suddenly feeling a lot less FOMO about needing to try out other versions. Thanks! :D

Although I will say I played around on a new XTC 20th Anny with EL34's yesterday at a local store and thought it sounded fantastic. That Red channel is a monster. Also, it had a metal front which, combined with the gold plexi faceplate and newer tolex pattern Bogner uses, the “fancy swirl pattern" tolex or whatever it's called, made it look fantastic.

Also, hopefully my post here helps with the “is Bogner still in business?” question because the XTC 20th Anniv. I played was a brand new amp that arrived at the store about a week ago.

I remember when Bogner Brand arrived here in Brazil with all 20Th models. A friend of mine bought every model and I played them.
I was looking like a teenager to play the XTC and almost bought one without play it first.
Big disappointment, too congest like a blanket in front the cab.

Don't feel bad because that's how most people experience these amps when they first play them. There's a trick to them though. For whatever reason, Bogner decided to use a logarithmic pot for the Treble knob, which means the Treble control is basically almost all the way off until you hit about 1:30. The entire usable sweep of the Treble control happens between like 1:30 and 3:00. It's weird but if you know that and aren't afraid to crank the Treble on these amps, you’ll hear the "blanket" fall right off the cab when you do that.

Oh you don’t have signatures turned on?

I don’t own a Helios/Helios Eclipse, but I do own a 1998 XTC 101B with class A/AB and stock Mercury Magnetics OT/PT.

Here’s a video of mine boosted with an SD-1:

That sounds wiiiiicked. Yeah the 101B I played the other day didn't sound like (even though yours is boosted, I can tell).

Took me like 2 weeks to dial this amp in and get rid of the blanket everyone talks about.

I hate the red channel on this amp - loose and grainy - very compressed. It also doesn’t take pedals well. The clean channel and blue channel are the cats meow - pissed off Marshall for days and EASY to play. Huge solid thumping bottom end. The amp is absolutely loud as all fucking get out with 525V loaded on the plates.

C243 242 5w White resistor?

Maybe if a few post pics of their pcbs, you can get to bottom of it. I dont see any fuses in your picture, but a goddamn ribbon..jesus

Forse se qualcuno postasse le foto dei suoi pcb, potresti arrivare in fondo alla questione. Non vedo fusibili nella tua foto, ma un maledetto nastro... Gesù

I feel someone with the Ecstasy Pandora Mod should join in here as this is the latest revision of the circuit and it seems to be able to shift between different revisions of the Ecstasy.

I had #55...100B. The Blue channel was unreal! Sold it buyer offered it back to me sent him a check for $1200 to hold it, cashed it and then became a person you could not find ..like witness protection. Still pisses me off some 20 years later.

Nothing worse!

Exactly dead on about the Treble pot (Log Audio). The reason Bogner does this, is the amp with the standard marshal style linear pot is very bright. You would have to set the pot to about 10:00 not to be too bright.

Hard agree, the audio taper pots are crucial to be aware of. You have to dial with your ears on an Ecstasy as noon sounds horrible on the amp.

Just saw a post over at Incognito guitars about the 50 watt and it looks like Bogner is updating again
W and power SB switch for low or high mid focus
3 modes of gain on the Red channel
Looks like maybe he is incorporating so Pandora stuff in the 50 if true. Here is description

I had one and greatly preferred a stock 101b

For me it was the other way around.

I first had a Pandora, loved it but sold it because i was an idiot and let GAS get the better of me.
Wanted to try a Mesa MK 7, as they first got introduced to Europe again.

Then after a while bought the 101b, mainly because it was cheaper than the Pandora.
Did not like it at all, at least not for the kind of music i was trying to play with it.
Luckily i had a shot at getting a new pandora again a few weeks back, so i snagged it and now i'm in love again ❤️.
Here is a quick clip at low volume, unboosted:
