Just picked up a red today after trying all 3. It was a tough choice between the blue and the red but I wanted the extra gain! The salesmen at gc told me they were the exact same pedal just different colors, bonus points for product knowledge, or not.
I was tempted to bring my amp and guitar down there to make sure I chose the right one but I really didn't want to deal with the hassle. So I played a new les Paul studio into a fender deluxe ri. They had a nice little set up right next to their Pedal display with all the necessary cords and power. That was a nice touch.
I strung all three of them in a line. First I tried the uber which was the one I thought I was going to buy. Not impressed. The tone was there but it was very thin sounding. Didn't have the body and fullness of the other two.
The blue and red are very similar other than the red having an extra gain stage. If the blue wasn't so close to the gain I get from the shiva on its own I probably would have bought it.
Both of them respond amazingly well to guitar volume. I've spent the last two hours playing the red through my shiva with a prs dgt and I am very happy that I made the right choice. It's added four more gain channels to my rig.
Clean
Clean with amp boost

Gain with amp boost
Xtc red through clean
Xtc red w/ amp boost (this may be my fav)
Xtc boost
And finally xtc with amp and pedal boost.
I could also dial back the gain on the shiva and use the red on that channel. I wasn't super happy with the results when I tried it though. The red sounds best to my ears through a big bold clean.
The gain is a lot more open than the shiva gain. Not necessarily better but a much different flavor.
So I give it 5 stars. It is to date the best gain pedal I have played.
