the guitar used also affects the tone (pickups and tone woods) surprisingly versatile...+1 for turning knobs to dial in sounds

He means especially on the Uberschall, whose controls are often counterintuitive.

Love this amp but why the heck does it need to be 150 watts! LOL.

Nice to see this post come back around.

Bad thing is it's making me really horn-dog for another TJ

Seriously a terrific fkn amp. I mean it. And ya, biggest regret in my amps/gear comings-and-goings, shoulda never sold it.

You could pull some tubes if it's too many watts for ya. :poke:

Agreed. Great to hear the versatility of this amp. JB's the man.

V, I went back to 88's in the TJ and am glad I did.

Ha!

The TJ love has been on the upswing lately. Really, what's not to love? It is capable of ripping your face off, but there are lots more options with it.

With the prices of gear down a bit, it's a good time to be buying one,

I have a Rev Blue, actaully two of them as well as an Ecstasy. I have used my Uberschall live for 80's hard rock. Even the clean channel on it is not bad but it does have that issue with keeping up volume wise with the gain channel. That was something they addressed in the Twin Jet although I still prefer the Rev Blue for the gain channel personally.
Nice Joe Bonamassa jamming you did there btw

I was very shocked by the Twin jet when I tried it! I could use it at bedroom volumes and go from clean to heavy rock all on channel one without ever touching another channel! Then I couldjust use channel two for leads! Would love to play one again to see if I could use it fr my 90s rok band that plays grunge, heavy rock, pop, alternative from the 90s. Great amp and simpler than an XTC. The Twin and my Shiva could be all I need. :)

I put a 5751 jan Phillips in V4, which is the gain for ch 1. (Props to Lieb for the idea) It dialed back the beast. It does lower gain loose stuff a little better. Still goes modded marshall when the gain is cranked. just has a better low gain tone. Legit for using a dirt pedal with ch 1 gain dialed back to make it pseudo 3 channels.

Ch 2 just for leads!  That is the mega chunk riffer for me. The boosted ch 1 gets leads. Crazy amp. It s fun to set ch 1 with a tele and compressor for modern country stuff, then just hit ch 2 and the beast is let loose. It just does no look right seeing a cherry sunburst polite tele....and hear that sound.

Glad to see that worked out for you!

Thanks guys !
Unfortunatly i have sold this amp and I m missing it :(

This seems to be a common thing with Uberschalls- they're sold off (probably due to a perceived lack of versatility) and then people immediately end up regretting it.

Here here... I'm guilty of that and have learned my lesson. I'm in with Cantrell now - me and him - you know... Ain't selling my XTC and ain't selling my Uberschall. They are life-mates and now they're my life-mates.

Just sayin'...

Wow that's really surprising, despite it not really being my kind of 'vintage' tone it still definitely sounds bitching. I pretty much only play with gain, either modern metal or EVH
