Can get either one for the exact same price, can't play em though. Reading through the reviews on here I've heard that the bass is pretty flubby on the Rev Blue, but I've heard KILLER clips. I don't intend on boosting, I want the amp itself to shine through.
So ya, I'll be using a Road King cab, and to reitereate, my questions is, is the Bogner Rev Blue tubby in the bass?

Oh ya, Twin Jet is 2012 model, brand spankin new condition, just want to make sure I get the most aggressive sounding lead channel of the two....

Don't believe everything you read. I have owned several Ubers and a Twin Jet. I would take a Rev. Blue Uber certainly over a TJ and probably over anything else Bogner makes. Bass doesn't need to be run over 1:00. RK cab should be about perfect for that amp.

Thanks man, I was kind of leaning this way.
All I ever heard about the Mesa Roadster was how tubby the low end was and how muddy it got, but I never had that problem and once I dialed in it was one of the best amps I've ever played. So ya, I guess take internet reviews with a grain of salt.
Think I'm, gonna take the plunge.....

Have only owned the Rev. Blue and it is a keeper. Steve is dead on about the bass. I have some winged =C= EL 34's in mine and a mixture of preamp tubes. Mine never flubs out. I use it with an Avatar 2x12 with greenback's and a uberkab with 2 warehouse veteran 30's and 2 emi wizards in an x pattern and it sounds great with both. Good luck in your decision both are great amps and will cover your needs.

My Rev Blue was not flabby but it was mod'd by Cameron with the Shiva clean, boost and something else. I only sold it because I had to many amps and only wanted to have 1 amp…What was I thinking  back up to 3 and want 1 more

I been playing the rev blue ubers since 2004 and i also owned a twinjet at the same time and sold the jet after a couple months because i didnt like it. My lows arent flubby on my rev blue but i use a uberkab and i keep the bass at 12:00 or below. I played it live a bunch of times and love the gain ch.
The cleans arent anything special.

Your avatar wins....screw the Uber. :D

Agreed. Les Zombie's avatar is gold.

Back to the ubers though, I'll be odd man out here and say I dig the TJ better than the Blue or the 2. I sold a dead mint NIB TJ a couple years back and always missed it. Just picked another one up from a forum member last week and an really grooving to it.

For what it's worth, as per Reinhold, on the stock TJ, the 2nd channel (high gain channel) is identical to the original Uberschall, only the "Master Presence" is folded into the second channel's circuit so you can tone shape now with 2 presence controls (one in the channel, one master). As per the website:

The TWIN JET's new clean channel features the same controls as the standard Uberschall but with an entirely new circuit. You can still dial in clean sounds with single-coil guitars but pure, super clean tones are diminished if using humbucker equipped guitars. This new gain structure now offers you a clean channel that can be dialed in as a second gain channel. While the clean channel's gain does not match the super high gain of the second channel, it will give you the ability to have semi-clean, Plexi, JCM or hot rodded tones. (Note - in November 2009 a revision to the gain control was made to offer a better clean sound.)

The super high gain channel is identical to the standard Uberschall with the exception that the presence control is now in the channel circuit itself, rather than the power amp. The Uberscall's power amp presence control is the same as the Twin Jet's master presence control which affects both channels on the Twin Jet. With these changes the Twin Jet's super high gain channel's presence control becomes an additional tone and feel shaping control.

I dig the TJ. I never really jived well with the 1st channel of the Blue or 2. I always wanted more grit and oomph from it. The TJ is an odd duck - kazy bit of business to EQ, but once you get it - man, it's gold. Also check out the YT vids of JMR with Tone Merchants running through the TJ. I think you'll be duly impressed.

Peace,
Mo

I've owned both Rev Blue and Rev 2 Ubers. The Rev Blue isn't flubby, not with my setup anyway. There's a lot of people that claim the Rev 2 is better, but they're quite similar if you EQ them right.
I've owned 2 amps with KT88 tubes and I really don't like how cold and sterile they sound; haven't owned the TJ but the clips I've heard have that same KT88 "quality".

I love my Rev-Blue Uber!! It's NOT just a metal amp. There are great rock tones in there as well and I think the Clean channel sounds great! I've actually been more inspired and had more enjoyment out of my new Rev Blue lately than I had with my various SLO's over the past year or so. Also love the footswitchable FX-Loop and the simplicity of the amp. My Uberschall is very pedal friendly and opens up other tonal possibilities with various OD and boost pedals in front.

I'll play. Rev Blue all the way:

Came with a nice roadcase too:

(RSRD)?

So you won the Coheed Uberschall?? Congrats! Was it in great shape??

No, but I did see that one. I think it went for 2300 or so. The one i have was Claudio's backup amp on tour before he went axefx only.

I tried to dial in my tj to sound like my rev blue or close to it but i couldnt get it to sound the same, i wanted the tj to replace my rev blue because i liked ch1 better and it would have been more versatile and covered more ground. Maybe mine sucked and i need to give it another chance sometime.

i like the rev blue the best. i think it is one of the best amps for metal out there.
i run mine at half power and that fixes what i don't like about the insane bass.

FWIW, I'm just taking some shitty ass clips right now (via my iPhone) of the TJ. It's less an expose of what the amp can do, and more a study on the changes the preamps/powertubes can offer tonally. I'll direct the link over to the subforum once up. I've already logged 4 vids and they all sound like ass, so I'm trying to get the iPhone into a better position to actually "hear" the amp/cab.

Stay tuned!

Mo: Bet you're wishing you still had the Zoom recorder...:)

I demo'ed a Rev. Blue and own a Twin Jet. To me the Rev. Blue was a bit more warmer and looser and of course has a dedicated clean, while the Twin Jet has more definition & string separation and two gain channels. The 1st has some cool JCM 800 tone but with more of a spongy blue channel XTC quality to the tone. The 2nd channel is confusing as hell to dial in, but once you get something cool, stand back: 150 watts of Armageddon!
