I've owned both Rev Blue and Rev 2 Ubers. The Rev Blue isn't flubby, not with my setup anyway. There's a lot of people that claim the Rev 2 is better, but they're quite similar if you EQ them right.
I've owned 2 amps with KT88 tubes and I really don't like how cold and sterile they sound; haven't owned the TJ but the clips I've heard have that same KT88 "quality".

Biz are you still rockin the red?

Mo: Bet you're wishing you still had the Zoom recorder...:)
This is too funny. You are 100% damn straight I am missing my Zoom. Hellfire I have been wheeling around my office for about 3 hours today with my iPhone taking countless angles and clips of playing, and they all, sound like absolute shyte

It was shortly after the 2nd hour of playback I was uttering blasphemies under my breath about selling that H4n recorder

You sonsabitches, pushed me over the edge ya did. Getting the Blue. Mo, still post your clips, this is a cool thread regardless!
I'm going to do the best with what I've got. But I've asked that my wife grab my mic bag. I'm not at all pleased with what I got so far. You can BARELY hear the difference between the preamp glass, and every time I give'er, the recording clips and crackles - I had it at a decent volume, of course I did. If I turned it down - it went to fizz.

I'll have something shortly. I've got a real bent on this now :gethim:

Depends on what you want to play. If it's metal, there's no contest: the Twin Jet is simply more suited for fast, aggressive, and LOUD riffs. It's a very easy, forgiving amp to play compared to the first two iterations. Plus the first channel is more interesting than the Rev 2's or Rev Blue's.

If you're more into mids and saturation, I'd go with the Rev Blue or Rev 2. The Rev 2 especially has a very organic, full tone. The Rev Blue is going to be brighter, more Marshall in its character. I personally think the Rev Blue was the weakest iteration of all Ubers, but many will disagree with me.

I bought a REV-2 a few years back because of comments like "organic" and "saturation"....and I was disappointed. I much prefer the Revision Blue with the more Marshall flavor and punch!

Honestly I would be happy with either! Only ever played a TJ, which I loved incidentally

Yep, see, different strokes I guess! It's all good. Any of them are killer amps.

I personally think the rev blue is flubby but I am using a Mesa OS 4x12 which I think is part of the problem. Not sure if the RK cab will be better but I run my bass very low, about 9 o'clock. I do plan on getting an Uberkab and hope that will tighten things up more but I think the amp has to have a boost. I use a Maxon OD808 with good results.

Even though I am a little disappointed with the Uberschall I do think it can sound awesome with the right setup. Here is an example where I think it sounds incredible. No idea what speakers are in that Mills cab but the pickups he is using are SD 59 which are medium output. Another factor I think is important. I use EMGs which I think are not a good match for this amp.

No EMGs and a Mesa can would not be a good pairing for any uber IMO unless you are playing a huge venue and you can open up the amp big time.

I've owned both Uber revisions and played a TJ quite a few times in sessions. Honestly not the biggest TJ fan. Between the 2 Uber revisions I love the Rev 2, the Blue was cool but didn't feel the same and lacked the low end color I like in the Rev 2. Apples and oranges. But at the end of the day none of them will save you if you don't have good music to play and all of them will sound good if you do.

I whole heartily agree though that can be true of almost any amp. Almost.

And the louder you play, the more it will make sure everybody knows whether you are a good player or not.
