Bogner vs Engl

Ive heard the Engl preamps are a lot clearer. I recently saw a band play with two E530s and the tones cut very nicely. But this thread is about the Invader which does not cut very well. Different animals.

I would say, just because you show up & give it a test drive, doesnt mean you have to make the trade. The subjective answer rears its ugly head again. don't you hate when you can't get a resounding answer.

I took the trade  . Shipping it went flawless (Heavy duty cardboard box, and more bubble wrap then amp). The TJ is mint. I love how simple the amp is but how technically complex the Eq section is. Right now using my (pretty much brand new) Jackson soloist SL2Q, and it sounds amazing. I did like the Engl very much, and maybe I would consider re-purchasing it again at a later date, but it was love a first listen with the bogner. Thanks to everyone who replied and gave their opinion, i know these threads usually start up some heated battles.

You did good
After owning 6-7 Engl models, my E530 preamp is the only one that remains
If you have Engl GAS, try running that in your TJ loop, and thank me later ;)

I would do that trade in the blink of an eye, and I would hurry before that POS Engl shits the bed

Even though I'm not a fan of KT88's, Bogner is far more superior to Engl in build quality...
This is interesting. There are probably plenty of reasons to trade the Engle for Bogner, but build quality and reliability aren't those I'm aware of. I've owned several Engl and have never had a single issue. Whether you like the tones of one or another is subjective, but Engl have never pretended to be anything other than what they were.
I have known several people that have had problems. I had an SE that developed a problem with the fx loop that turned out to be simple, but really scared me. It kept having volume drops, and I couldn't find anyone to even work on it. Their customer support was a complete joke. I have another friend that owned a savage SE, and it developed an intermittent problem with a cold solder joint. It took him a lot of time to track down and get fixed, and it wasn't through ENGL. I know my friend Tom in this thread had issues with a brand new SE, I forget the details, but I know he won't buy another ENGL product.
Well that is a bummer. I had a Thunder combo that was about indestructible, and a Fireball with never an issue.
Yeah, I think it probably closely relates to how stupidly complicated those SE are. Way over the top. I had a Blackmore that never give me a hiccup either. I like the ENGL tone, just not confident in anything too complicated from them.
