For those of you who have or have had an XTC, which speakers did you prefere? Right now I'm liking 2 H30's/2 V30's in an X. Also like the GB's. I'm curious about the 65's.

I've got 2 cabs with different arrangements. I've got a Bogner 4X12 with 2 Alnico Golds and 2 Hellatones from Avatar. I've also got an old Marshall 4X12 cab loaded with V30s. The Bogner cab is way smooth and the Marshall has cut. I'm still not sure which I like better. I think it depends on the application...or time of the day, year, what I had for dinner last.......

I like my Bogner OS 2x12 with V30s over anything I've tried so far. It sounds very good with XTC. However blue channel could be better with something different I think.

I like mine best with GB's. Dumped the V30's out of my Bogner cab and loaded it with GB's. Much better.

I'm kind of an odd bird with the XTC in that its pretty much my favorite amp I own, but I don't use it often with my band. When I play at home, I tend to like it most with my Marshall loaded with two 75's and two V30s. However, when I used it to record, I used my Mesa with all V30s and it was HUGE, AWESOME, PERFECT.

I guess, at lower volumes, I find it reacts well with some output from the nasty 'ol GT12-75s since its a darker (low mid) kind of amp, but get it wound up and the V30s seem to work better.

I've used all V30s, CL80s, GH30s, Greenbacks, M90 and mixed V30/Greenback, V30/GH30, V30/G1275, V30/CL80. My favorite is all greenbacks with the XTC but V30/GH30 sounds pretty nice to......more modern for sure.

Celestion clips with the XTC

I don't normally like V 30's much, but they sound GREAT in my Bogner cab. Good stuff

V30's also sound great in Boogie cabs IMHO. For metal i think V30's are a great choice. For hard rock i would go with Greenbacks.

The XTC sounds better with v30s than any of the other amps I have had but I think I still like the g1265s and greenbacks better with it.

I know this question wasn't for me but I believe they are very similar to a greenback.......kinda like a higher powered greenback I believe.

Pretty much. Both speakers have almost the same crunchy mid frequency, but the 65 has alot more low mid beef and the top end is quite a bit smoother/less grainy. I love them to death :)

darn...

I gotta try some, Gary!
What is the "actual" Celestion model number??
