Boost Pedal Comparison - Boss SD-1 vs Ibanez TS808 mini - 20 minute video

My Boss SD-1 arrived two days ago and I finally got some time to use it for more than 5 minutes.
I really like it, it is more aggressive than the Ibanez TS808 mini, but I like both pedals.
I am not sure if the Boss SD-1 will replace the TS808 or if I will just use both for different things.

I do tend to like more gain, so the SD-1 will probably be my choice if I keep one boost in front of the amp, but it is too early to tell.

I used my 2024 Gibson Les Paul Standard 50s for the video, it has Burstbucker 1&2 pickups which are not super hot, so it should be a good demo for guys with single coils or humbuckers.
I used my Friedman Little Sister combo amp, it has the least amount of gain of all of my 4 Friedmans, but it still has a decent amount of gain.

I did edge of breakup tones to high gain tones and varied the settings on the pedal, that is why the video took 20 minutes.
I did a one minute short for those of us with short attention spans, lol.

Here are the vids...

I think I am going to go with the SD-1.
I need to do another video to see which one cuts through the mix better.

Thanks for posting. I watched the short because I have attention problems and there is no way I could watch a 20 min video of anything let alone 2 OD pedals that I already own and are basically staples. But you video and tone is good. I prefer the SD1 for this kind of tone myself. It is a little 'warmer' or 'rounder' in the boosting for lack of a better way to say it. But the TS (clones - I have a Bad Monkey) pretty much rule for metal - which is where I usually am at. I do remember your original thread asking about these - IIRC.

No problem. I have actually been going though all of my YouTube videos and turning them in to shorts for that reason.
The only problem is if I record the full video wide angle, it cuts off a lot of the video viewing angle in the short.
The SD-1 is definitely warmer, that is what I like about it.
