Boosting Your Diezel

My Herbert sounds pretty good with a TC BLD in the "boost" mode. It allows you to shape the highs/lows and add a little extra push if you want it. I find it more useful with my 8 strings than with my 6's or 7's. But it can be cool with those as well.

seems like an ac booster works for me, when i had the diez fix, also used a friend's maxon 808

no "need" but whatever who needs have the crap i own, ya know?

i use a Suhr KokoBoost & A Modded Maxon TS9 for color w my Einstein. Thats about all. No boosting really needed.
This
I run a Koko in the loop. Pretty awesome.

So, I have had A LOT of time with my VH4. I boosted it with a 80's SD-1 then a KoKo boost. Just fucking amazing. The amp really needs nothing out front but WOW......do those 2 pedals give it something that is crazy good.

On another note.....I have been trying to get a clip together so ya all can hear this monster

I thought I might have replied to this thread already but I hadn't.

No boosts are needed for my Diezels. I've used a CAL Mk.4:23 Pro as a clean boost, but that's it - and this was only for volume. As per Steve's comment above, there's a built in master/loop boost that's easily used for the same purpose.

I like stomps. Fact is I love 'em. Lil' boxes of goodness. But I find with every Diezel I've owned and used, there's simply no need for dirt, overdrive or boosting. In fact, less is more with Diezels, and that goes for the myriad of possible effects out there, IMHO.

I agree that boosts aren't needed with Diezels and if you want to fix anything about your tone it really pays off more to look on either ends of the chain, guitar, pickups and cab and speakers, that is. If you love those little stompboxes and want to get a bit different flavor once in a while then Diezels do a fantastic job of making your little pedal loud and sound great!

Oh and in case of the dmoll, if for some reason you do not want to go from clean to that sweet low-gain on Ch1 with your guitar volume: I was pleasantly surprised how well the new Klon kTR works and sounds; it is quite close to that sweet "purrrr" of the dmolls Ch1 overdrive. Initially I just got it to see what the fuss is all about and was skeptical.. but then I was surprised how nicely it fits, so give it a try. I don't think I would ever pay those insane prices on ebay for the original horsies but the ktr was bearable and while I can see why it's still just another TS for some folks, I claim to feel/hear some differences that ultimately made it worth it for me plus you get a switchable buffer with it.

I tried clean boosting my Herbert with my Boss Super od a few times because it was already there on my pedal board from my Mesas. The Herbie doesn't need it in my opinion.

I use a od808 as a clean boost on my herbert, just adds a little more sustain but tightens up the lows.
I like the added tightness that it gives me and also adds something to the eq that i cant get by dialing in.
Alot of you dont need it or like it but for some people its about the feel it gives. Its not about adding extra gain.
