Tried a VH4 at a boutique shop in St. Louis a few years back and was not impressed with the amp. (sorry Papa)

Bought an ENGL SE and liked it very well, but I had far too many problems with it. After dealing with crap customer service from ENGL for a couple years, I decided to sell it off and ended up trading for a Herbert sight unseen. Best decision I ever made, and now it's been in my possession for 1.5 years nearly and barring absolute financial disaster I do not see me ever getting rid of it.

I drove a long way to try my Herbie. I was actually going to get a VH4, but the shop had both, so I tried both. I started with the clean channel, planning to work my way up to the lead, but already knew I had to buy it before I got further than clean!

I couldn't decide between VH4 or Herbie, and my friend who was with me said she preferred the Herbie. Who am I to argue when I loved them both, so I bought the Herbie! She's now my wife!

After loads of playing mostly ch1, ch3, and a bit of ch2(+) for a month or so after getting it, I then had another epiphany playing Channel 2(-) at lower gain settings and went all bluesy for a few weeks!

Basically, unless there's something wrong with it, you can't go wrong with a Herbert.

That's what I'd originally typed, but decided to change it since someone said they didn't like the vh4, but loved their herbie! Personally I agree though!

I bought both my Vh4 and Schmidt through YouTube videos basically. There weren't many good sounding vh4 clips on youtube though so I had to go on a fair bit of faith... it paid off in droves in the end ;). Will buy diezel unseen again with no hesitation.

I bought my Einstein 100w head without having tried it or having listened to youtube links. It took some tweaking to be really happy about it, but I always felt there was a special clarity in the lead channel so I never gave up. Now I really love it, I listened to C-4 and switched to lower gain preamp tubes which made it go from really good to best.

I know what also really made it work for me. As with all great tube amps, the louder you crank it up the better it sounds. I reverted to an old trick and turned the cabinets facing the wall. Looks stupid but works great. Especially on stage.

I just bought my first Diezel, a Herbie, from a board member...minty fresh too!!! I have never played through one or heard one in person but I know I will :inlove: IT!! I CAN"T WAIT TO CUT SOME HEADS!!!! :codeak: :m17:

i tried my Herbie before i bought it & ordered the VH4 without playing one. No problems...forget about it!

Bought my Einy unseen after some forum research and a couple of YT vids (the Musik Schmidt one in particular) and when I first got to play it it easily surpassed all my expectations by far
