Brand New guitar day (1 of 4 in my life)

So yesterday I bought a brand new guitar. I've only bought three other new guitars in my life. My Kramer Baretta in 1985, Charvel Model 88 in 1988, some Gretsch about 3 years ago and now a Fender Player Series Strat. It's got a flame maple top with blue burst, maple/maple neck a HSS pickup configuration. Pretty damn nice guitar that plays like butter. A world of difference from my $50 First Act and old Teiscos.
And now the funny part. It's not even for me! Bought it for a coworkers son.
Had a little fun with it yesterday.

Peavey VTM60 into two 4x12's. One loaded with Sheffield 1200's and the other loaded with Celestion K 85's. Only the Sheffield is mic'd though. I turn on a Bion Boost after the first few chords.

That’s fucking hilarious. Amp sounds better than a lot of the custom stuff around here and those Sheffield speakers are highly underrated. I ran Sheffield’s in two 5150 cabinets for ages while gigging.

Long time fan of Sheffield speakers. The 1200's and 1290's are two of my favorite speakers.
I've had the pleasure of owning some very cool amps over the years, but like I've said before, the best amps I've ever played sound less than 10% better to me and for what I do than a VTM and a boost. It's my go to amp. I actually don't even need a boost for 90% of what I play.

It’s why I love my Laney GH100S so much. It’s not a channel switcher and built for someone that rolls their volume but that amp is as grab and go as it gets and is loud as hell.
