You are describing the same problem that I'm having with my Rebel-30, if you place a volume pedal in the loop, "nothing else" turn down the volume pedal and turn up the volume of your amp and start playing you'll hear your guitar crackling and popping, leaking through, you should be hearing nothing. I've only had my rebel-30 a week or so and from reading this forum it seems Egnater have known about this problem and done nothing about it as it seems to be a problem with most of their amps. "I hope I'm completely wrong as I have a replacement on it's way".......the rebel-30 is a cracking little amp but with my heavy handed guitar playing aggravating a flaw in the design of this amp, it's unusable

I have a Renegade 65w. Love the sound but there is an electrical "hum" in the background that will carry on for a minute or two, get louder, pop/crackle, and then fade away and it will be fine for 10 min or so and start to do it again. It does it without an instrument plugged in. I've tried tube swaps or pulling a set of power tubes and running off only one side with the tube mix to the side with tubes in it. Neither helped. Also had a spare set of preamp tubes and did some preamp tube swapping. My first Renegade had a similar issue that I ended up returning it for within the return policy but now I'm out of the return policy. During band practice it doesnt bug me too much because it doesnt get louder with volume increase but playing it at home its driving me NUTS. To the point where i mostly play out of my little VOX combo. Then adding to the problem I have to listen to my wife gripe that i spent a grand on an amp that i dont play at home.

Anyone have any advice / ideas?
Have you contacted Egnater ?Send them a Email and John/Nate will help you.I think i remember someone else describing the same kind of problem, here on the forum. You could try a search but,at the end,Egnater (Nate/John) took care of it.

About the Renegade's "frazzled reverb" (original topic),it's annoying but you just have to keep the channel's volume below/at 12'clock when you're using the Reverb. The individual channel volume is acting like the "send" to the Reverb and it's overloading it when it's at more than 12'clock (not always but...).

I don't have a Volume pedal to test this. I have used a Boss DD7, Marshall Reflector, Marshall Vibe/Trem, and Marshall Regenerator in the loop. I put everything else distortions wahs out in front of the amp. My Rebel 30 works great like that.

Bruce is a great designer I don't believe you are correct saying "egnater has design flaw in their amps and they do nothing about it" Try emailing or calling their 800 number. To me it seems like there are so many variables in this scenario you are describing. What type/quality of volume pedal is this? Could it be a poor patch cable? How is the pedal being powered....could some electrical interference be introduced? Could it be a bad tube?

Do you have this problem with all of your pedals? Or just this one volume pedal?

OK, I take it back, the big guy knows how to build a amp........swapped my Rebel 30 for a RENEGADE. why anybody would buy a Rebel 30 when for a few dollars more you can get a Renegade, I must have been off my head. Sorry hbucker my reverb is fine even past 12 and into Rockabilly mode......see you cats later I'm off to play really F***in LOUD.LOL.

PS. I'm so happy...........................
