C+ Through Mark IV guys, do you use all 6l6's? or el34's in your outer slots?

i've always gone all 6l6, and i don't even really know why! i guess it just sounded better to me on the cleans especially, but it wasn't exactly night and day.
which do you use and why?

I mainly use 6L6s, but sometimes I change to EL34s to get different sounds. When using EL34s I use the triode and pull the presence on the lead to get close to the IIC+. The cleans are definitely fuller and more 3D sounding with 6L6s.

Edit: I forgot to add that I'm talking about the Mark IV.

6l6's, el34s were ok but 6l6s sounded fuller to my ears.

The way it came from the factory is usually best..

6L6. It just seems to sound like my idea of a mesa in both my C++ and IV. Just seems to make the noise.

All 6L6. Tried EL34s in the outer slots a few times and took them out within minutes.

I had KT77’s in the outers of my IV and loved it. Mids of the 34’s with bigger, 6L6 like lows.

6L6s in my Mark IV. I tried EL34s in the outer sockets. I prefer the 6L6s. They have more going on in the cleans and the lead channel is fuller.

6l6 in my iv and iic+.. but I do like 2 -34s in my coliseum red & blue stripes.

I tend to prefer 6L6 when playing alone, and EL34s in the band mix. Just sits easier.

Sitting here thinking some more… I actually use EL34’s in the simul sockets of my Strategy 400. I was looking for more Marshall mids when used as a power amp for wet dry wet.

Blending a marshall and a mesa easily gets it done. Especially if you use the amps in triode.

I use all 6L6’s as well. Can be fun to throw in EL34’s for a change sometimes though.

I have run both in my old Mark IV. I thought that R2 sounded really good with EL34s, but preferred 6L6s for most applications.
