Gary - the question is: how many Marshall heads can one safely stack?

OK, the Jose is here. Replace mains fuse. Wonder if Customs plugged the amp in? Or, someone shipped it to me after they couldn't figure what was wrong with it? Bad tube. Replace Winged C's with Winged C's. Remove GT Chinese and replace with Penta C9's. Figure out front end and push pull master. Find me a damn footswitch. Figure out all the micro switches on back, the SAT and master/pull and bass boost.

Wow.........LG mode is great on its own. HG is even better. The amp easily moved to the front of the pack. It is a little tighter than the Aldrich, but more punch and more articulate. For such a high gain amp, it is super quiet too. Very impressed.....

Where's my plate of crow? I am hungry.

They are awesome congradz!

Might be one of mine I sold to Lugo. Looks like my settings tape is still on there if you can decipher it!

she had her skirt pulled up when she got here and no panties on. probably same old whore that has been everywhere

um.....a little less enthusiastic now. was getting ready for a gig this weekend and set up a pedal board to run a few pedals up front of the Jose and I find it gets really thin for instance with a delay and flanger. anyone else have that? played pretty much the same hook up a few weekends ago with one of the Aldrich amps and didn't notice any thinning. so, may have to bust out old faithful for this weekend and figure out the Jose. It has a hell of a growl to it though when played without any FX. gnarly dude.......

It is getting thin because of the effects loop. Run it with a wet/dry cab and it should sound great. Thats how I run my amps and it takes care of the problem.

yeah, i was trying to keep the rig a little smaller (100 watt head/ 412 cab       ). i am not using the FX loop on this one as it pretty much sucks even worse! i will probably end up taking another head with a good FX loop (Suhr or Golub modded) with 2 cabs and run W/D.

steve

I use a head and 4x12 cab with a 1x12 for the wet cab. I use a 44 magnum power amp pedal to run the 1x12 cab and I use a suhr line out box to send the signal to the 44 magnum with the 1x12. It makes it more manageable to bring a wet dry rig.

I saw Nick talking about those pedals a while back and yep, that would be quite manageable. But, if I am hauling two cabs, another head won't be a huge deal to contend with.

i do the same with my ccv, line out with the box jerry p built me, into my eventide out to the input of the 44 magnum, which powered a 1x12 with a cl80 in it... nice and portable litte setup and easy, i have the 44 mounted to the 1x12 to , piece of cake and plenty of power for the fx.

I run an EL34L with an EL34 and it adds just enough chunk to my jose 2204. I did the same with My hundred watt Friedman, 2 34Ls and 2 34s. Seems to work well for me.

decided to run two Aldrich mods tonight.....both Mark's. one wet/one dry. sounded huge during sound check.

opening song - bullet with butterfly wings. closing song - master of puppets.

3 - andersons and a nik huber orca.....

Hey James......that's why a carry a spare crow in my lunchbox

Actually, I don't find Mark's Jose mod to be anywhere near what I expected, in terms of tone - it's much different, and better. I was fully expecting a noisy, thin, raspy, buzz saw type of gain with the clipping diodes, but the amp is the complete opposite. Quiet, with the gain very controllable and tone as thick as two short planks. The amp has a really heavy, deep and sustaining growl, which I find very interesting and nice. The overall tone is much different from that of the Aldrich amps and reaction to pedals. I just need a few more days with it and it will be in the gigging rack.

We played last night and me being the only guitar in the band, I sort of "stand out". I had so many compliments on my tone last night. The two Aldrich's running W/D was "thick and chewy". But, in my opinion, the gain on the Aldrich amps is more reminiscent of what I would expect an 80's "Jose" type amp to try and replicate, than Mark's Jose mod.

Which is better? I don't know yet, as the Jury is still out. I think they are different enough with voicing where picking a "favorite" is going to be hard to do.

Steve

Steve, i'm surprised you don't have Jose' clips up yet???
