Can it really get any better than the EG5?

It's just so fucking pleasant to jam on. I've never played an amp with a sound that felt like this. If there's a better combination of warmth, cut, and playability out there, I sure haven't experienced it. I'm using an Uberkab, it's just killing.

It is the best stock module PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I have 2 of them it's so good!!!!!!!and maybe a 3rd on the way

I rarely use EG5. :dunno: :banhim: Why? - good question, and I asked myself the same thing these last two weeks. That's why at tonight's show, it will be almost all face melting EG5. I'm pumped!!!!!

Its by far the best high gain module for me. I sometimes have affairs with SL2 and E-Rect but EG5 is always in my live rig. I do get better rhythm recorded tones from SL2 though.

Thank God we started bragging on the EG5 again. I have one for SALE
Everything seems to go in cycles on the forum.

Please PM me
thanks

LOVE my EG5. The thing about it (which could probably be said about most modules) is
that it's so versatile. It cleans up great with a guitar volume knob and is an all out tour de force when cranked. This is also the one module that I think has SO many EQ options to get different tones. I have only scratched the surface betwen the B/M/Treb. & the Bright/Bass switches.

Since my SL/SL2 thread, I've been tweaking it a bit, and I have found a setting I'm happy with for my "more gain" SL wish.

The bright and Bass switches can really give you a modified sound, if you also TURN THE KNOBS!
I don't want it as compressed. Turn down the gain. I want a bit more grit. +2 on bright back off treble and presence. Same train of thought with bass. This is why we installed the switches in the first place. Gives you the ability to modify the tone within reason. The factor that shoots over eveyones head is this....you gotta turn the damn knobs! End of rant!

The Knobs Turn?!?!

I remember Bruce saying that the bright switches have less and less impact as the gain goes up and that's exactly what I hear on mine. That's Ok for me because I'm normally rolling treble off. But I play more in the room on my own without a band so cutting through is not an issue. I really need to try my rig with other musicians. Or at least jamming to some loud backing tracks.

I don't think I've really been tempted to run the gain on the EG5 past 1 o'clock..so the bright switches work just fine :D

I love the flexibility the Bass/Bright switches add on this module.

Yeah, I find that's about where I run the gain too. Never past 2pm, usually 1pm. So I do get a little kick from the bright switch. What I really like to do is run the bass low and use the bass boost. Usually, my bass is a little shy of noon, mids are 1pm and treble is 9:00. I do that on all the modules. If I find I still have too much sizzle or hair in the top, I notch down the gain and notch up the channel master. I'm running through 2 very new V30s in a Bogner OS 2x12 so as they smooth out, the treble will come up. Again, this is when I'm playing alone in the room. Not with a band.

#1 rhythm tone for me. So silky smooth and tight. I run the gain really low and spike the mids and bass. Running it tandem with my Treadplate it is stereo rhythm heaven. Oh and marvcus that is a great avatar!

I forgot how much I love my EG5 tone. I'm back to stock...and it's fucking amazing. Yep..there's nothing better...except the GNR module is damn good...but different :)

My EG5 settings:

Bright - off
Bass Switch - 1
Bass - 2 oclock
Mid - 10 oclock
Treble - 2 oclock
Gain 1 - 10 oclock
Gain 2 - 2 oclock

EG5 = awesome...FTW baby :)

Hmm....I think there may be a connection! Egnater needs to name one of the new mods the "Soul Glo" module!

"It's silky, smooth, and let's your soul shine through!"

I just did not like that module. I tried. I ended up likeing EG3/4 and Sl2 much more. I found the EG5 too stiff and gainy for my needs. I could never get the gain past 10-11:00 even for out heaviest tones. Just didn't vibe with me. :aww: Shame, because I really wanted to like it.
I wouldn't mind getting another and modifying for less upper mids and more lower mids, with less gain - then I wouls like. Time to modify one myself most likely.

Glad you found your module bro!

All the comments good and bad reinforce what we do. You dont sell your Egnater, you sell the pre amp. So if we do our job you should be a Egnater user for life.

Jeff and Bruce's customer service and loyalty to their customers is top notch. I trust no one else as much as I do with them with my tone. Jeff put that SL2 module in just the right place for me personally. He's shown above and beyond commitment to his customers!

Thanks for making such a kick ass product man. I just absolutely love my Modular stuff!!!! I do want to do the Seminar someday soon. That's the only other amp I'm looking to get...because I want to build that dude! Hopefully this summer you can do a seminar. If so, I'm SOO there :)
