Can it really get any better than the EG5?

My EG5 settings:

Bright - off
Bass Switch - 1
Bass - 2 oclock
Mid - 10 oclock
Treble - 2 oclock
Gain 1 - 10 oclock
Gain 2 - 2 oclock

These settings would sound way harsh to me in my room. Next time I bring the M4 to my friends house, I'm going to make sure that we jam something and see how that works with another player. I'd still use less bass and more mids but the treble is the thing. I never use that much.

Eric, what kind of pickups do you use mostly?

First...what speakers to you use? I use CL80 / T75s. I use all sorts of pickups and all sound good like this. I have EMG 81, 85, BKP Rebel Yells & Stormy Mondays, MCP Afwayus.

Plus I use 6550s too...EG5 + 6550s = awesome tone. I didn't like the EG5 as much w/ GT E34L's. 6550s + EG5 is nice, bit and fat!

Well.. I jammed more this morning w/ the EG5 and the GNR module. Well..I think a module has finally surpassed #1 territory for me!!! The EG5 is now a close second to the GNR module. I love the versatility of the GnR module. ChA has that old Jimi / SRV Marshall vibe to it. So damn warm...but so damn punch and tight on the low end. Incredible tone. I could easily use ChA as my gritty clean tone...and as a "One module" rig if we ever got a dual channel one module amp! I just plain loved that ChA. On my bridge humbucker it had that plexi tone with moderate break up....on the 2 singles I have...oh man...did it sound amazing. Warm...yet enough spank and top end to sparkle. Like a BMAN, but tighter and punchier. ChB...holy moly...well throw on your bridge bucker...and start playing the Black Crowes...GnR...Marshall heaven...but much tighter than a SL2. Take the SL2...tighten the mids...add more grit to it...and bump up the mids just a bit. Everything a Marshall tone should be!!!! I definitely see this module going in my M4 right next to the EG5 for sure! DLX, EG5, GNR...and whatever 3rd module I choose that night :).

So...the GNR has definitely got the mojo. Made me go from liking my SL2, and always wanting a bit more with it...to falling in love with it. I have NO issues with any modules anymore...and have tons of versatile tones. Made me fall in love w/ my Egnater stuff again today. And...6550s still beats E34Ls in my book! My Mod50 never sounded better than it did today w/ a GNR / EG5 in it! :)

Eric, sounds really cool.......your description of channel A has me intrigued as well.......what did Jeff do to that side......and did you describe what you wanted or did he just work that up??

Well..I told him I wanted that Steve Stevens / GnR Appetite for Destruction tone. And he did it...VERY WELL. The ChA came as a bonus...and we didn't even really talk about getting that vibe. He did it...and blam is it amazing.

I have to say...this has easily topped my list as the most versatile Egnater module out there. No questions asked.

Eric

Damn.......your killing me here. Sounds amazing..........may have to do this too.

Yeah, blah blah........Jeff you just suck man........the money right out of my wallet!!..  :D

sounds like a module for my VOS!!!

Eric, between you and Jeff.........

Now I gotta send him my T/D to make it a D/D and my SL2 to do the "Appetite" mod!

I'm all about the eg3/4.. loooooove it. But again, that's the great part of the egnater, totally different players can totally find their sound within the same amp design!

I don't know where I'd be without the mod series! It's honestly spoiled me and I'm loving being so spoiled. Incredible versatility and as easy to use as it get. Most importantly, NO COMPROMISE.

If I had any other amp I think I'd constantly be flipping them wanting to have my fix for whatever sound i was feeling more that month. In the end the mod series will probably end up saving me money

Yeah I agree with ya. my favs are EG3/4 on 4, Deluxe, COD, but hell i luv all 10 and depends on what i am playing. They all have a place, now I have the RM100 I have 3 empty slots.
now i am jones'n for the GNR App mod.

FWIW I have a Mesa MKIII and Carvin quad X and havent played them since I bought the Egnater M4, except once when i felt the need to try them out again and realized they were just lacking something. Back to collecting DUST.
