So I just got my first wah pedal(lol) and all that comes to mind for songs to jam to were hendrix and well thats it. I haven't really paid attention to wahs in alot of songs and was just asking if you guys could give me some recommendations. Thanks.

Basically every Arch Enemy song ever recorded. Mike uses a wah in 99% of his solos.

A lot of stuff from Alice in Chains/Jerry Cantrell's solo career utitilizes wah.

Frank Zappa used it quite a bit in his solos.

John Petrucci uses wah in some solos such as Lines in the Sand.

Vinnie Moore uses wah in a lot of his material. The CD Out of Nowhere has quite a few good examples, my two favorite being Thunderball and Time Traveler.

Testament used quite a bit of wah on the song Low.

A lot of Jazz/Fusion players used wah. I liked Nick Moroch and Jeff Sigman with Lenny White on Adventures of Astral Pirates, Al Di Meola used wah quite a bit with Return to Forever, there was some good funk wah on a lot of the Brecker Brothers' material.

If shred is your thing, Paul Gilbert's songs are peppered with wah. My favorite would be Down to Mexico.

If G'N'R was your thing, Slash used a bit of wah. Appetite for Destruction has some throughout.

AIC - Man in a Box is the first that comes to mind.

Lots of songs seem to use a wah but not the full range, just a half cock or barely on type of thing. Heck, I think Andy Summers did this a whole lot now that I consider it....

for something with a more bluesy/soulful approach check out Eric Gales

Totally forget about them, but you're right. Almost every melody or lead that dude plays is with a wah.

SRV "Say What" off of Soul to Soul. He used two wahs at the same time on that one. I believe one of them was owned by Hendrix.

Mike
