Running the Fish Shark ch into the FX Loop return. Its an older CCV... "Vintage".

I'm glad to hear this works well, because I plan on doing this myself (on the odd occasion I grow tired of the CCV's tones   )

Actually, did you run into any issues, concerns or other sonic happenings when doing this that are worth mentioning? Or, does it just sound GREAT?!

It really sounds great. I actually told Brad that Cameron Amps should put out a Power Amp w the CCV power section. (((stereo))) and mono. Wow, its awesome! I also tried a herbert, jcm2000 and soldano loops. The CCV was best.

This is basically what I always do..Pre into either the front end of an amp or in the return of the loop of an amp and 98% of the time it sounds killer etc, etc. Every now and then..not so much but what usually happens is. The ones that sound killer are $2.5 to$4K amps and it leaves me thinkin.....WTF!!??? What a waste and not "mentally sound" to use an amp of that expense and features as a power amp....Yeah...just another of my personal hells.....lol!!

What's weird is the pre takes on the tone of the amp more than I thought. Ex. The Fish sounded very much like a Diezel thru the Diezel loop!

Exactly!! You get the inherant tone of whatever amp your running into but..more flex/tweakability....but damn it can be an expensive undertaking depending on amp and pre combination which, In your case here is off the charts.....lol!!

Best sounding amp/power amp I've used is a Friedman Kitchen sink into the return of the loop...it Almost didn't go back to it's rightful owner....

That's definitely been my experience, and I can definitely hear the CCV tone in there.

Sounds great

Does sound great but I guess it had more presence in the room? The recording is kinda dark...

I have found that..Some amps react differently (duh) lol! What I mean is..Sometimes the setup sounds best with Amp/power amp volume set high and fed a weaker preamp signal and vice versa.....different things goin on but more often than not..A higher preamp signal into the amp is usually best...usually....not always....lol!!

OMG! What an idea!

I haven't even tried it yet, but I have to imagine if they could build a 2U, 50 x 50 watt dual monobloc power amp retailing for less than $1,800 that I would be all over it.

:rawk:

The Fish's Shark channel is a little on the dark side. But I'm sure your comment also has some relevance to the tone we are hearing on that recording.

I tweaked during the recording. Did you watch the full video? Doesn't sound dark to me though. :)

Second half has a tad more presence indeed. I think it's common that if you mic an amp direct it has more openness/brightness and with an in the room recording furniture, carpet, etc swallows much of the highend frequencies. It's a great tone and I'd love to hear what it'd sound like close mic'ed.

Yes it is a room mix. Zoom Q3 on a stool next to me. Thanks for the comment!
Btw there is more presence and treble left to dial in too. And the CCV power section bright can also be dialed up. I think I'm at 2 0'clock.

We are already designing a stereo Cameron power amp and a Cameron preamp to go with it for future release.

Holy CRAP that's awesome, Brad. I know it is SO early in the process, but do you have any general target price you are aiming for on the power amp?
