Thanks for the update Art. The TAG looks killer too!

Steve
The tag is the best thing in the pic next to the ccv. What a great guitar, I'm glad I bought it.

Mark chose the JJs over the SEDs. He liked the tone and reliability and the sound proves him right. As far as the knobs being a bit lower, we will have the holes moved up a touch on the next batch. It's not a cork sniffer TGP type amp with exotic bubinga hardwoods and elephant ivory knobs. It's a pissed off, greasy rock and roll amp.

For the price it should be top notch both in sound and build quality in my opinion. If you want to call that "cork sniffer" that is why I moved along.

Jason,

I think all the regulars here on RT know I don't get rattled easily and I let a ton off stuff go here that on other forums would not fly but your negative posts are wearing thin with me, You have no clue how much heaven and earth was moved to make this amp a reality. I get it, you don't like it. You think you know how Mark should of built it, Every post of yours regarding this build has been negative and I have just shrugged it off, well you delt your spot, you have no dog in the fight, just buy something you do like and quit raining on others parade.

I was told the amp is as good as the old in regard to build quality if not better. So what you are saying is the older amps are superior? Everyone I spoke with and know who had several of the older amps told me they were very inconsistent. This is a new design with Mark hands on and having carte blanche on what components he wants. Maybe if the pots are moved up the tone will change because the leads will be different. Mark doesn't have allot of energy. I get the impression he tried hard on this project. You're not goimg to get much more out of the guy. If you fuck with one thing he has done, it will not be as good. At least one guy who knows CCV's has already put up a positive review. He played and owned three of the older models.

Lookin' forward to getting mine (2nd Run).... Makes a guy anxious seeing these pictures and threads!! Did I mention I just love those red trannies!?! (In a purely heterosexual kinda way) :D

If guys are going to start strokin the bone over the knobs being to low wtf. Go buy a knob that is 1/8 smaller at the skirt, problem solved. I have been getting some more time in on mine and it just flat out rips and it is a quiet mofo. The older ccv's weren't this quiet, the gain structure of this ccv has been raised. I don't even use the max clipping now and it get's right into the sweet spot. My last ccv liked the max clipping and you had to have the bright switches set right to deliver the goods. Just the facts, they got it right.

Hi Brad,

I am sorry.

No worries, thanks for the apology.

it's a kinder, gentler, friendlier Cameron Amplification forum these days. Congrats to all involved...it's about time this tone gets to the masses!

Brad, I know I would, and I would think the majority of the list, would prefer the amps just the way they are.

Do not drive yourself crazy over re-ordering and re-punching the chassis' (atleast not on mine)........they are KNOBS....if they turn and do their fucking job......then I am good with that.

He has been, but not so hetrosexual early on, so it is getting better for him

Congrats Art, glad you love the amp and can hardly wait for some clips, etc...

Everything sounds great overall and I for one am very happy for everybody getting theirs. As this progresses a lot of people will be taken care of and a lot of great amps will be out in the market and clubs being played. Win/Win for everybody, even though I am sure Brad and company feels a little warn by the overall process.

Dont let it it get to ya Brad! You have worked the impossible. If some one doesn't like it FUCK EM!!!!! Now how to I get this gun out of my mouth for selling my spot!!!!!!  I'll still be buying one. Who wants to sell???? I'm ready

"Get the gun out of your mouth" haha, damn I want one of these amp as well!!!

regular 34's not l's, all 12ax7 c's. Dave you will have to bring up the ccv to see the differences. I bet it will be pretty close, now that I am getting used to it. It will be interesting.

Well, you were spot on with your gain structure comment.

I think the new ones feel closer to Mark's mods, which I think a lot of people will dig.

The l's work good in bright thin amps, they are not a friend of the marshall mids. The non l's are very marshall mid friendly and are very natural/organtic sounding but you loose some of the thump the l's give you but it is worth it. To me it is a toss up between the c's and the el34's as they both have their +'s. The c's get a tighter punch but are not very warm sounding almost stiff and dry.Just my 2cents or what I think I am hearing. I'm sure other will chime in. I will say regular jj el34's are the go to tube in 800/jmp's. The only thing that sucks about the regular 34's is that they are getting very hard to get a set that isn't noisy or the screen grid doesn't fail after the first 5 minutes of play. If you get past the first 2 hours with them and they aren't noisy or didn't redplate the will go the duration. Just my findings.

I'm trying to make a clip but all my recordings with my q3hd sound muffled, Do I pads make good recordings?? I know jack about any recording stuff, I need a education on it just to make quick basement clips. I would buy a sm57 if I knew how to interface it into the computer. What are simple set up that are proven, don't need anything fancy.. Help a dummy in need. Maybe it is the setting on my q3, I tried a few different settings but nothing major changes.

Grab a Zoom Q3 they are pretty decent for clips.

I have a q3hd but my clips sound sorta dark and muffled. Not what I am hearing in the room. I am going to try different placement of the camera.
