Do you guys know if this is the same speaker? My G12H-100 came in an old Olde Wolbers Randall cab...If they are different, how so?
Yeah I think the OTHER K100 is the K85 that came in stuff like the Peavey Butcher cabs, no?D-Rock":2fp7pa68 said:Different speakers.
GH100 is similar to the "Hot 100".
GK100 is a higher end Celestion.
I had an early 80s JCM 800 1982 cab with H100s. To me they are very scooped sounding, with smoother highs than say a later T75. The K100 I have not played, but I have a K85 and they have prominent upper mids to my ears. If they are just higher wattage K85s then they are lots different than the vintage H100 Marshall cab I had.stephen sawall":1nn6qy1k said:The H is not the K as mentioned before.
I asked Celestion about the K85 and K100. They told me they are the same speaker. The reason they changed the name is people were afraid to use them with 100 watt amps. They told me all of their speakers can handle about double what they are rated.... They are just going to have a much shorter life.
I AM NOT RECOMMENDING ANYONE RUNS DOUBLE THE WATTAGE INTO A SPEAKER.

Oops I guess I should have read your post better. The K85 I have is from 1985, and has really nice upper midrange sizzle. The H100 would be a great scooped metal speaker imo.stephen sawall":1m1ry4m7 said:Racerxrated":1m1ry4m7 said:I had an early 80s JCM 800 1982 cab with H100s. The K100 is not a higher wattage K85. They are exactly the same speaker. The only thing that was changed was the name according to Celestion when I asked.
Truth, and as a point of interest, the actual wattage rating of the V30 for instance isn't 60W, it's about 75. Why they ever called it the "Vintage 30"stephen sawall":36bhvknw said:The H is not the K as mentioned before.
