I acquired a pair of CB H75s and stuck them in the top of my 1960A cab with a pair of UK Greenbacks in the bottom. So far I love it! I would like to try a quad of H75's but why mess with what works?.....I'll feel different next week!

I am thinking about buying several pairs or singles of speakers I have not tried or limited experience.

All Celestion for now.

G12 EVH

G12M-50 Hempback

Midnight 60

Neo Creamback

G12M-65 Creamback

Heritage Series G12-65

V-Type

Classic Lead 80

G12H-150 Redback

Some of these I rarely see mentioned.

I love the EVH and the M-65.

I've overall learned I tend to prefer the M magnets in the room. Fatter and squishier than the H's. Less strident. Contrary to popular belief, my experience is that the M variations of the speakers (I've compared M-65's to H-75's and RI GB's to the H Annis) tend to have more low-mid and bottom-end muscle, they're just quieter and not as bold.

The M-65 is almost like the modern, more hi-fi version of the EVH.

Let's get to reality here... The Chinese, UK/Mesa and Marshall V30 are all the same speaker, just Marshall V30's tend to be 16 ohms while Mesa V30's tend to be 8 ohms which changes the voicing a bit (Marshall vintage are 16 ohms which makes them more scooped), that's it. The experts all agree on this. Just ask Nolly, or The Other John Brown... I would say that they know more about V30's than anyone on this board does.

I'm not sure if those guys are actually experts. But I do believe that is right.

I'm not sure about the Vintage 30...but most of the speaker types moved back to being made in England a few years ago.

Doesn't really matter where they are made, they got the same source for their materials and they're all human beings making these speakers, to say one country does it better is kinda prejudiced IMO. Like "those good ole white boys from the US of A and the UK make far superior instruments and speakers", when that's not really the case. I used to own a Gibson SG, it was a piece of shit.

Completely agree.
Asia tends to make whatever quality they are asked to make. It's about a business model. Nothing to do with genetics.
Looking at the quality of much of the things coming out of Asia if anything they can and do build better quality often.

Celestion moved stuff back to England because of the shipping issues associated with post Covid.

I only played very briefly on the G12 EVH a few times. Definitely a greenback I am interested in.

I think that was just for the pandemic. I think standard V30's are Chinese again. I think Greenbacks too.

The g12h-75s from 79 to 83 I think it is, are great speakers. Sound killer.
The early G12T-75 was pretty much the same as the G12-65 right? They're probably from 1983 or 84 forward. The 75 had a fiberglass former.

Anyone familiar with the V Type ?
Had a Vtype in a Suhr Hombre. I expected to want to pull the speaker, but after some a/bing, I really liked it. Seemed just right for that amp.
FWIW, I like brighter speakers, V30, Greenback, G12h30, H75.
Don't care for darker speakers like the M65 or G12-65.
I'd say the Vtype had a good amount of detail while being pretty even across the frequencies. All around, a good speaker.

If all 3 of you share that opinion, here's a tip or two that should prove things otherwise:

Thanks

Yes the Y-Type and Redback seems I am most interesting in recently.
