Celestion Peacekeeper... new speaker

Well. I am glad to see someone doing something new and not a reissue. That said, this is obviously marketed toward people that don't play loud. The only reason I could see that they made the wattage so high is just incase someone plays a big amp quiet and turns it up every once in awhile.

I mean, I'd be willing to try one but why only 8 ohms? ick

Give me a 16 ohm peacekeeper at a reasonable price and I may try it for shits

I noticed it on Celestion's site this morning and was going to post about it. A super inefficient speaker seem like a good Idea if you have a vintage NMV amp and want to crank it more without earsplitting volume. I also see dumbasses complaining because they think along the lines of what @VonBonfire mentioned. Then bitch they can't hear themselves over the drummer.

All that aside and even though it's highly unlikely I'd get one, I am interested in what it sounds like.

We should shift the burden to drummers to use peacekeeping skins and cymbals.

I've had low dB blue back Fender speakers with a big NMV amp and it turned into a wooly mess and was still loud. Celestions are usually a little brighter so it might work better, but even so, what kind of moron spends money to cater to a few complainers? Maybe they are complainers? I wonder if they realize that once the catering has started, there will be more demands made. When I can hear the crowd talking over my band and I'm still too loud it's either pay me and guarantee or I'm leaving or I'm going to be this loud until I'm done at which time you can pay me and then I'll leave.

There are so many Reactive loads and attenuators and modelers out there to get a cracked amp sound at lower volumes. Why not put it directly in the speaker. I think it’s smart of Celestion actually to try to keep the guitar cab and speaker market up.

For all of us who still love cabs and speakers and don’t want everything to eventually be FRFR, I think it’s a good idea. I’d give them an A for competing and curious to how it sounds.
