That blade selector switch sucks and is in a shit location. 🤣

Recessed Floyd’s…nope.

More failure from Fender / Charvel.

Put me in charge and I’d make a few simple models that would sell. Not this crap.
Top mount Floyd for the win. After playing my first top mount with a USA pro mod from 08, there's no going back. Such an improved feel. Direct mount pickups? Nah, give me the vintage look with rings.
Down to 1 USA from 09, and an 86 Jackson. No need for any more.
Glad to see the interest in Charvel though....

I'll agree with you on the recessed Floyd.

The switch location isn't too bad for me but the volume knob is a little too close to the switch for my Fred Flintstone fingers but I make it work anyway. It looks like it's been spaced out better on the Evertune model.

The 6 pack of sound setup seems odd to me though because you can't get the middle position with both humbuckers unless you rewire it. How can I do Jimmy Page licks without the middle position?

I love the necks on these though. The San Dimas / So Cal typically are in the goldilocks zone for me. I've picked up 3 used examples of the HT versions of these, and I think that the most I've paid was $550. They've got to be one of the most bang for the buck guitars out there. YMMV.
I think the idea behind the 6 pack of sound was to offer as much guitar in the platform in a practical manner.

For example one can get LP/bucker type tones untapped. Tapped you get Strat bridge and neck tones and you also get the classic Tele middle poisition or a position 2 in a strat for that quack tapped and in middle position. It just offers the best of all worlds on an amazing platform with a 12-16 radius on a rolled fingerboard with some better than decent attention to detail and craftsmanship IME.

I think if you rewired with a 5 way switch you can probably do all that and a bag of chips with a 10 pack of tone but overall as is the 6 pack of tone provides so much already and more than plenty for me.

Selecter actually isnt bad there and I like it vs a switch and don't see an issue with it. It's not really any more or less different than where a strats selecter is. Regarding the Floyds a Recessed Floyd just offer more movement vs just diving like a decked Floyd does.

So it allows for traditional movement like an old school trem or just straight up diving and you can just do more with it in any case than with a decked Floyd.

Aside from that it also offers other obvios benefits like less weight relative to the same guitar that isn't recessed with the same Floyd and body on average.

Less weight for a lighter guitar.....

More movement.......

Traditional or contemporary trem action.

Recessed Floyds are just better in almost every way.

You must not have owned any Charvel’s. The dozens of Charvel’s I’ve owned all had top mount Floyd’s that were floating…so I can both pull up and dive. The less weight argument is also a non issue. I own custom shop Charvel’s and they all weigh in the mid 7lbs with two piece center seam bodies.

See my post above that dispelled everything you just wrote here đź’Ż

Most I've played that were not recessed weren't floating......

I'd still argue a recessed Floyd offers more potential movement, fluttering and up and down motion vs a non recessed version....

And as said the same guitar using the same body will be lighter Than the same non recessed guitar on average and obvios ressons that less wood and weight is being used and there is no argument there saying otherwise from you or anyone.

Feel these pics and lighting probably get the best representation of the Satin Ferrari Red vs most stock photos and also of the Pharaohs Gold..... the reds not too dark but pretty dark and the gold is more glitter than not..... both look dope in all black hardware too.......

I may go Pharaohs Gold if I pick one up....

The Red is okay but I feel it's too flat.

Cool thing here aside from stock MIM Charvels like his Signature model Jim Root uses on the road for live gigs....... he also uses an MIM Weathered Orange Relic San Dimas........ stuffs just that good.

Recessed Floyd is fucking ugly and ruins the guitars. It's telling that any Charvel Custom Shop model they put out has the top-mount Floyd, it's the proper Charvel way. Recessed, get the fuck out of here, save that shit for Jackson I guess.

It's telling it's a spec on Custom Shop models as it really isn't better but more of a nostalgia thing than it being better in any way shape or form and an artificial tier structure in any regard as it takes more work to recess a cavity vs not.

It's just an artifact from the past that was a part of the evolution of the the strat and a step to what is available now. Aside from other obvios benefits the recessed Floyd offers, top mount Floyd guitars today make less sense than ever. They are mainly just a nod to the past and yeah offered in Custom Shop models to offer something more "Historically" accurate to the times back then when that was all that was mainly used and available for the most part.

"Takes more work." Non-recessed Charvels have an angled neck pocket. Which is less work, and how much does it matter when the bodies are CNC'd anyway?

Recessing the Floyd makes the guitar look like dogshit. Worse, it makes it not look like a Charvel anymore. Charvel = Non-recessed. That's the Charvel look. It should be throwing back to the past, Charvel is largely a nostalgia brand to begin with.

Recessed Floyd guitars weigh less..... offer more functionality and utility and nicer form and much of the other things you say are reasons why decked Floyds are mainly offered in Custom Shop and it's just a nod to the past for nostalgias sake.

Charvel is actually about offering functionality, form, utility and practicality for the modern player lMO and that's what a lot of their guitars do and offer for the modern player while paying a nod to the past..... where it makes sense...... this is why recessed Floyds are used and are the standard for most of their models in todays day and age.

No pink with a floyd.......balls!
Aside from the Burgundy Mist HSS Custom Shop nope.....Pinkish but not really pink.

Pretty sick HT HH Plus Model with matching Pink headstock tough for those who dig HTs and don't use a trem much. Just asking for a Hello Kitty sticker too. Looks good from the front and the back ^_^
