also i chose white as i just couldn't see myself with a blue, black or even red guitar for long periods of time ( "hey your guitar looks just like Brad Gillis' guitar!" ).... white i could tolerate although it still isn't even my favorite color.

So you prefer, "hey your guitar looks just like Jake E Lee's guitar!" ? ;)

Cool snag. These are one of the best modding platforms to come out in years and hearken back to a time when hot-rodding your guitar was a way of life. Enjoy!

That's what turned me off about the SoCal in white!....Either that or Vinnie Moore's guitar. So i got the San Dimas.;)

They need to bring back the Pagan Gold. That is a badass color. I think a tobacco burst would be cool too.

It's too bad the plant in Japan that makes the pro mods shutdown

The guy at Charvel said they would be back around the end of the year. probably Korean made but they will be back.

I know you said zebra pups, will the bridge be a Dimarzio Super Distortion?

I know you really like them.

well i got the guitar and i'm sending it back. just isn't the right guitar.

cons for me:
has nasal tone when you step on it.

the strings are so far away from the body it almost sounds like an acoustic guitar. this for me adds up to more open vowel sound where i'm looking for more of a tight smile sound, if that makes sense.

Pros the neck feels good in my hand... but when i play it it just doesn't respond the way i want it to... plastic sounding.

I could go into more detail but it just adds up to its a piece of wood and you know when you have a good one.

ill send it back and try one more. This time one with a pick guard... sense i don't like where the switch is... which was what i was afraid of anyway.

oh well. :)

I found that when I took out the JB and replaced it with a Duncan Custom the nasaly tone went away.
I replaced all of them and I'm completely happy.
But that could just be me...YMMV.

The last time I checked eBay for a USA So Cal there were literally none available. Are the US ones really that popular??

(this guitar anyway) very toy like guitar. maybe i'm just used to playing les pauls and strats but it has a very soft sound around the edges (plastic like) and im wanting more brighter sound, snappier sound.
i have been looking for a while and you don't see too many used USA's come up.

again it is a crap shoot buying without playing... if had 5 of the same guitar to choose from one would stand out as being the best of the 5 and one would stand out as being the worst.

i haven't seen but one USA model and i have been looking for weeks.

This happened to me and is why I yanked the neck off of the Japanese made one and replaced it with the USA neck. When I got the Japanese Charvel you could shoot an arrow off of the neck and it felt like a cheap toy but the tone was amazing. I had my brother Harry yank that neck off the guitar quicker then you shake a stick at and when I put the USA one on it was magic.

Now that you have said this, I'm starting to think that the USA ones were more consistent or at least they have been from my experiance.

If you are looking to roll the dice on a Japanese one, id see if you could find a store that has them in stock and try them for yourself. I know that My sam ash had a few layng around a few months back and they were all different. I remember thinking that I could build another great playing one if they would allow me to yank the neck off of one and swap it out. :D

Mark, did you consider just buying a Floyd and installing it on a new Strat?

yeah but its mainly the neck of a Charvel that i want in my hands plus a Floyd.

ill try the Charvel route on one more guitar, USA made this time.
