Yeah, in that price range Zidder, an old Randall or Crate or Peavey is what I'd shoot for. I personally liked the Crate Blue Voodoo, the Dime D100, Crate Stealth (I think it was) and some of these newer lunchbox amps.

Also feel free to start your own thread.

I had a Peavey Valveking that was pretty rad, but I had to change the speaker. It went from this....to that

And here is my Peavey Vypyr Tube 60. Was $300 8 years ago. And Blackheart Killer Ant hiding in the corner (but you'd need a cab).

Definitely not. The original thread was about cheaper amps in a general sense.

For 100-200? The only couple that come to mind are a Randall RG 50 combo; got mine for 175 2 yrs back, or a used Boss Katana.
Yes that was my point. He said 100 to 200 just above here and i was like you aren't getting those then!

The blue voodoo amps are sleepers

With a decent boost and the right speakers they can sound excellent

I used one as my "playing bad venues" amp for years and years.

Here's a clip of one of my old bands 10-12 years ago

The blue voodoo 120, blue voodoo V30 cab, mxr carbon copy, mxr noise gate, and voodoo labs sparkle drive

Excellent gigging rig, and all in it cost about 500$ - including the pedals

That's what I was wondering, where the heck can you buy those amps for that cheap right?

Another one I haven't seen on this thread yet is the Laney AOR 50 and 100 watt heads

They are a PITA to EQ, because of that ridiculous bass boost pull pot

but with a mxr or boss EQ pedal in the loop they absolutely shred, and you could grab them for 500$ all day every day, back in the day

I think they are more like 800-1200 now, but still, it's a lot of amp for minimal cash

Trace Elliot Speed Twin. Reliability is iffy. My friend had one and eventually the transformer started smoking and the amp was done. Sounded really dam good though!

I picked up a Peavey Valvestate head and 5150 4x12 for $140 a couple of months ago. It doesn't suck.

i had one ba k in the day and it was pretty good . The red voodoo was trash though

A good TSL100
I fucking love it . Takes boosts like a recto . Solves the tubby low end

The old Peavey Ultra series amps. Triple X, ultra 120, ultra plus, JSX

I used to own and can recommend the PRS MT-15. It's a little finicky when it comes to the volume knob as it goes from soft to really loud with just a slight nudge, but it's got some brutal tones inside.

I'm not really good with recording, and I'm sure you can get much better tones than this from the amp:

I only sold it because I have a PRS Archon 25 combo that covers the same territory and which I prefer the tone of.
