To me, Chris Poland would be received very well and I for one would love to see it. A hell of a guitarist with tons of feel and a very unorthodox approach to his lead work. The best fit going forward for Megadeth IMHO. Saw an interview a whole back where Dave remarked that Chris was his fav of all the dudes that have filled the spot.

Frankly, I'd much rather see Chris Poland do another OHM album (or better yet, Damn the Machine).

Lombardo on drums!!!

Never happen. Dave wants someone cheap and easy to work with not a pricey veteran. Megadeth songs aren't at all Lombardo's style either.

Marty left for the same reason in 2000. Nick Menza had mentioned that the ball is in Mustaines court if he would rejoin. THAT would be sweet..... Nick was my favorite.

Yep, I would love to see that happen.

You and Nick played in a band together a couple of years back, IIRC? :)

Yep, I love Megadeth and think Dave's voice suits them just fine. I also played with Nick for years in a band and he is a fantastic drummer and really cool guy, not gonna feed into any negativity towards him.

Ah didn't read far enough :D

I hear John Frusciante might be available.

I liked Marty the most just because his albums were my favorite MD albums. That said, I think my second fav album by them is The System Has Failed, and a lot of that has to do with Chris Poland and Vinnie Colaiuta. So crazy that he was in and out tracking that album so quickly. Incredible drummer.

Dave just seems to go through bandmates like crazy. I guess it's because none of them feel like part of a band. Dave wants all the credit. Remember looking at a few album jackets years ago and pretty much every song just had Mustaine in the credits. Very few supporting credits for any other members making the album. Dave is a great player but Megadeth to me has pretty much become Dave and whoever he can get to play with him.

As far as vocals. I think his studio vocals are fine. He live vocals are just horrible IMO.

Inevitable result. Broderick seems like a nice guy so I'm not surprised he's done. DM has always been his own worst enemy.

I will be surprised if Marty returns.

I've hung out with Dave quite a few times, before he was famous, and he always was a bit abrasive

Another thing - I think it is just flat amazing that Dave can play rhythms like Holy Wars and sing at the same time. I have a whole new respect for him since I recently started learning some of the Rust in Peace stuff when my hand was working from the botox. Some of those rhythms are ridiculously difficult...
THAT and also the whole story about re-learning guitar playing after his injury - simply amazing.
The man has drive like a motherfucker. But such people are usually not easy to live with. However I'm sure he'll find an interesting fit (again).

Poor Lombardo.. amazing drummer, probably one of my favourites from a composition point of view..he just never finds killer bands of his own beyond Slayer. That said though, i do like how he plays the Metallica stuff. KILLS Lars in every sense of the word. He'd be an interesting fit here as well. I was never a big fan of how Drover interpreted Menza's playing. There are some cool little subtleties to Menza's playing that are missed by guys just learning a basic beat of a song. Nobody plays Holy Wars and Hangar 18 properly and that erked me.

I love Megadeth and I've seen them at least a dozen times at this point, starting back when the first album was released and I've never seen them as tight and bringing it as at the 20th Anniversary Rust in Peace show I saw at the Palladium in Hollywood. Great show and Chris Broderick did that material much justice... Marty is the original, but to say that Chris did not do the material justice or sounded bad... well... I just don't get it. The whole mix was incredible - best I ever heard the band sound.

I like Dave's singing - I know people bag on it, but I think that snarling shriek fits the music perfectly...

Steve

When I was 17/18, I wore that Rust In Peace book out, spending hour after hour playing along with the cassette tape. Never did get any solos down. The rhythm stuff is hard enough.

Just read that Jeff Loomis got the gig. Interesting!

Loomis? meh....another boring shredder.

How about someone that can actually help Mu$taine write some riffs?
