Chuck - 21 years!

Human, for me, is when he upped his game and really focused on more riffs, hooks, time-changes, and groove. And Di Giorgio on bass? He killed it on Human and Individual Thought Patterns. At the time, it was certainly unique. There's no two ways about it. And let's not forget about Control Denied.

Many don't know, but Chuck NEVER wanted to be the singer. Actually at a point, hated it. His vision was to have a Geoff Tate type vocalist.

If any of you have Amazon Prime Video, "Death By Metal" is an excellent Death documentary. Very in-depth, very humbling, (and of course, very sad too).

Yeah Hendrix didn't want to sing either...sure glad they both did though.

RIP Chuck! I was just listening to Individual Thought Patterns a few days ago! Chuck is one of the reasons why I play guitar! Didn't he play though a Marshall Valvestate 8100?
Yup, he did indeed! Pretty criminally underrated amp I think.
Besides all the obvious things he brought to the table, (killer songwriting, solos, riffs and more), he was one of the first death metal singers that wanted his songs to be about more than just the usual death metal shtick at the time. He seemed like a pretty thoughtful dude. There won't be another quite like him.
RIP Evil Chuck

He was the best and everybody knew it.
The Deicide and Monstrosity guys knew it.
-The Tarpon house of horror’s..funded by
those 2001 dancers.. I collected hundreds
of baby dolls, dismantled them and glued them on the rooftops..the burning headstocks…
And the legendary “Death Drive”
-Lincoln Continental, blind folded, brick on the gas
pedal hard charging through Gulf Trace woods to Bailey’s Bluff at 4am…with “Crankin’ Chris Savini..
Epic times.

Yeah, I moved to Tampa in '87, and was here for Death, Obituary, Morbid Angel, Deicide, Savatage, Atheist, Monstrosity, Malevolent Creation, and the Cannibal Corpse guys moving here.. Morbid Angel used to practice right next door to us. Used to pound some beers watching those guys practice, and our jaws hitting the floor seeing Pete destroy a drum set. What a beast, and humble guy. All of them. Iced Earth practice near us, as did a number of bands. It was a huge storage facility with literally dozens of bands practicing there. Not to mention bands from all over the world coming to record albums at Morrisound with Jim Morris, Scott Burns, and Mark Prator.. a massive list of bands went through those doors.

Love this guy. So fortunate to have seen him play way back when. That riff from the chorus of Symbolic is maybe my favorite riff of all time.
