Somehow I KNEW you were going to come back with that!!! No. :(

I just couldn't resist! :)

Really does make the module more usable for clean...C'mon muudrock...let's hit Matt w/ the one-two punch ;)

I've got your back Eric! It is true. The 5751 is the ticket.

Matt, I've never had trouble getting channel A on either the VX or SL to be my clean channel. Might be pickups. I don't generally run the high output pickups these days.

I use high output pickups and dont exactly have the lightest touch.

That makes two of us Matt ;). I play EMGs, Motorcity Afwayus...both of which aren't low output :). My Bareknuckle Stormy Mondays, Steve Steven's Rebel Yells, and Crawlers are lower output though, and are killer with the combination of JP 5751 and TS 12ax7 in the VX, BMAN, and COD. The VX isn't perfectly clean like the T/D, but man, it's super usable even with higher output pickups than w/ a Chinese, or a Sovtek 12ax7 or Tung Sol 12ax7 in V1. It's just sweeter, lower output, and adds some good character and feel that differs a normal 12ax7. I like it since it has a bit more sag to it, and is a bit liquid without being mushy or flubby.

is it possible?

i love the twin side of my t/d, but rarely switch to the deluxe side. i have the erect which is awesome for the modern tone (sooo glad I didn't sell my mod50)

The only one that really does that is the BMAN.
Eric

The SL and VX can do pretty damn high gain on CH B, (especially the VX)

And it is a GLORIOUS high gain sound. Im still very much in love with the VX module. The A channel can get that sweet, rich, right on the edge of breakup sound that just sings and the B channel is just fat warm molasses! Super rich and with a nice bite on top if you need it. And if you hit it with a boost, look out! I still need to pickup a BB. :gethim:

You are so right! VX Channel B with AC booster or BB is incredible. The tone is amazing---Warm and fat yet great not definition at the same time.

Yep, I now have all three. Vox, Bassman and SL. If I had to do a single module gig I would choose the Vox. I disagree with you on the Vox clean headroom Matt, I am getting outstanding cleans with mine. I think it beats the Basman, and becuase of the sparkly jangle it has it just jumps out at you. But I use more of a hot PAF style bucker in my LP so it works well.

I am in agreement with you here. Throw a JP 5751 in V1 and it gets better!!! I was jamming on my VX today, switching between ChA at about 11 oclock on gain, bass at 11 oclock, mids at noon, treble at 1 oclock, bright on 1, bass switch off...and holy shit...that was amazing clean tone!!! Switched over to ChB with the gain at high noon...and sounded awesome...threw on either the BB preamp or Sparkle Drive...and went into Soundgarden heaven / King's X heaven! Totally one of my favorite modules. I love the BMAN for warm, lush, cleans..but live I'd pick the VX for sure. It'd cut through ANY mix...and ChB brings the THUMP. Switching from it to the SL or COD, man...the low end just drops out..(in a good way)...that VX has some chugga chugga I tell ya, but still is bright, spanky, and jangly....all of which I love!

Eric
