here's one i threw together VERY QUICKLY just for you. it is just me jamming on my strat on the neck, neck / middle, middle positions w/ the COD ChA and ChB w/ a little verb and delay here and there. Please ignore my mistakes, as this was just me messing around w/ different tones. It's just single tracked totally throughout.

It's not a "SRV impression by any means" but it has similar tone.

Eric,

I feel like you just stole $400 right out of my pocket! Sounds unreal dude. Any pedals here or is this really a stock strat into a COD?

Thanks a million for getting this up so fast! You rock dude.

It's stock man. Just some verb and delay from my Lexicon MPXG2. No pedals. Just my handmade mahogany body, 5A flame maple top, with a flame maple neck and ebony fingerboard guitar w/ 81, SA, SA EMG pickups in the guitar going right into the M4 w/ the COD being powered by my VHT 2/90/2 w/ 6550s recorded w/ 2 SM57's inside my Grendel Dead Room Iso Cab.

You're soo right Jeff :). I actually had John Mayer come play all that for me w/ his Two Rock and Dumble amps ;)

I love my COD man. Can't ask for a better module for bluesy funk rock stuff!!!

Just if anyone asks:

ChA Gain - 10 oclock
ChB Gain - 1:30 oclock
Bass - 2 oclock
Mid - 10:30 oclock
Treble - 2 oclock
Bass Switch - Position 2
Bright Switch - Position 2

It's my pleasure to cause GAS in your musical bowels :).

Your pickups are all active right? Im guessing Ill probably need to run the gain a bit higher to reproduce tones like that.

On that clip they are. I can't wait for Wade to rewind my middle pickup to be reverse wound of the "Vintage style 1957 like Strat pickups" he made for me. I do a special wiring for passive a 3-single coil strat, and I wasn't sure if it the middle needed to be reverse wound so the wiring mod I do would work fine. Well, it did. So I had to send the pickups back to Wade. If I didn't have to do that, you would have heard some bad ass "SRV like" pickups that Wade made for me. They had some friggin major mojo. With his pickups, I had to bump the gain up just a bit to get that kinda tone. But not much. But the ones he made me aren't intended to be similar in output to a EMG SA. So keep that in mind.

(For those who are wondering what mod I do to normal strats, basically I found a wiring mod you could do back in a late 80's guitar player magazine that rocks. It basically turns Tone knob #1 into a tone knob for all 3 pickups. Tone knob #2 becomes a "blender pot". When the "blender pot" is totally off, the strat functions as normal throughout all 5 positions. When the blender pot is "on," position one (bridge) becomes bridge / middle in series (like a displaced humbucker), position two is neck and middle out of phase (very cool honky, quacky tones that are usable "somtimes), position three is normal, position four is the bridge and middle pickups out of phase (similar honky, quacky, thin tones like position 2), and position 5 is the neck and middle in series (like position 1, a hum-cancelling displaced humbucker).

Anyone that ways the schematic, I can send it on to you. It's awesome! It's the only way I would ever want a normal 3-single strat. I wish Fender would do it on all their guitars ;).

Trade my COD for your Bassman :-)

How about a T/D? :D

I already have (and love) my T/D ...

But I just bought a preowned Vox for $350, so I'd let my COD go for the same ...

Eric, what a great sound! I was wondering if you could make a quick clip of COD with more high gain setting? A little bit of fusionish type of sound...or something.

What type of tone are you looking for? Since I recorded w/ single coils, it doesn't have as much "percieved gain" as humbuckers would. There's not "that much" more gain you'll get. The COD isn't really a "high gain" type module like the EG5 or the SL2. It's meant to have similar gain to a Dumble or a Mesa Mark I.

Nice SRV type stuff

Whilst we are talking about the COD module , and reading that it is between the Dumble and the Boogie Mk IIc.
How does it fare at the rockier end of the spectrum
For example - a few of my fave Boogie IIc players are Brad Gillis /Jeff Watson (Nightranger) and John Sykes (Whitesnake 1987 was done with a Boogie Colliseum apparently).
Does the COD do the searing lead lines associated with those players or would the MHG fare better for those?

I have a Fender Prosonic that has Boogie like gain on the dirty channel - would the COD match up to that?
The Prosonic is one of the amps that I intend to sell to make way for the Eggie but it would be nice to have the same capability with the new amp

Ok, I didn't mean any death metal riffs or anything :) I guess I'd like to hear COD with more gain, a humbucker type of a sound...something like Holdsworth or Shawn Lane - with nice midrange. Just a wish... :)
