Ok, so it's not a hit for shredding... but then again I don't use that much gain when I go to "lead guitar land"...

Have anyone recorded it with the amount of gain that it can produce - preferably with a medium output humbucker?

COD is sooo open sounds, great module, and can be unforgiving if you're sloppy. I love it, whenever I'm playing it's a very dynamic back and forth experience, like I'm playing the module as well as the guitar. Great top end that is very clear and cutting, more so than any other module, but still not shrill. I feel silly talking about it like this, but it really asks me to play harder and dig in, really a blast to play.

I honestly think the COD has plenty of gain for shredding. "Shredding" does not mean a predetermined amount of gain, look at guys like Andy Timmons. he shreds like crazy on boosted Plexis! If you look at traditional shred tones like Paul Gilberts or Batio's they are horrible IMO. I think the COD works great for high gain soloing.

Then maybe the COD will fit my needs after all. I don't really use that much more gain than Timmons... Guess my Ibanez AT-200 will come in handy for getting that Timmons vibe...

Thats a good point Valtiel. Whenever someone talks about shredding I think of super over processed tones like Petrucci or Vai. But since you mention Timmons, I can flat out NAIL his tone on the Resolution album with my COD, Mahogany Suhr, and Eventide TimeFactor!

As an aside, and nothing against typical shredders (I use to be HUGE into that stuff), but I almost hate to call Timmons a shredder because his playing is always tasteful even when he is playing crazy licks. I saw him play the Ibanez show at NAMM (opening for Paul Gilbert) and it was just mezmerizing.

So, if current Andy Timmons is your idea of the lead tone you want, then COD will do it.

I agree with you guys here....for metal shredders....the COD isn't a good fit. But for stuff like Andy Timmons, etc...then it's a good fit. I'm currently w/o my EG5 and EG3/4 so I've been using the COD to jam on here and there as my lead tone, and it sounds damn good with medium output humbuckers and my EMG SLV single coil pickups. It's a good really warm, open, and woody sounding lead tone!
