Best bedroom amp ever made right here..Marshall Major..200 watts of headboard banging goodness..

I love my 6505MH 20W amp for bedroom practice. It’s been reliable and it does great for grab and go too.

If I could do it again I’d get the LBXII fender mini head that has the blue and green channels in the same amp. I find the two amps are comparable but I like the sound of the LBX more. The reason I chose the MH was for the built in reverb which for me is a must as a grab and go amp.

I would advise against that. Out of the three LBX's, the II sounds the worst turned down. It gets REALLY fizzy. It's actually the only one that does, for some reason.

People always complain about the LBX 1 not sounding good turned down. I always thought it sounded great. It's just the volume knob was kinda touchy. Not hard to get to bedroom volumes if you kept it below 1, though.

It gets fizzy because that’s what happens when you dial in a ton of gain and the power section isn’t brought in. Turn it up and use the wattage scaling instead or turn down the gain at low volumes without power scaling. Not a hard problem to solve even if you call it that. Every damn high gain head on this forum has the same issue.

I understand. I know how high-gain tube amps work. It's just neither the LBX 1 or S do that. Or at least, not nearly to that extent that the 2 does. I've had all. Well, not owned S, but I have played the S.

I never liked the 1/4 power mode on the LBX's, TBH. It just made them sound smaller. I preferred to just turn down the master volume on full power mode, personally.

I had the OG LBX and it wasn't bedroom friendly at all. The volume went from zero to holy shit. The 50 watt head was the better option, in terms of volume taper.. To this day, I still say the 50 watt is a great bedroom amp with a matching 1x12.

I'd maybe also look at the Iconic range as well.

Really? I thought the volume was fine on mine. I did have to keep it under the first indicator line in the dial. But it was fine. I didn't play at whisper levels, but I didn't play at loud home theater levels either.

The 1 sounded good at this volume too. The 2 didn't.

Ugh, I'm rethinking this whole bedroom amp situation and I'm posting on RT where I have several other tabs open, including "Post your 2023 stable."
Who the fuck am I kidding?
I'm just gonna keep this shitty little Blackstar and start buying more heads. I have a Mesa 212 here and a UA Ox Box. Who the fuck am I kidding?

If you need reverb, dont buy an amp based on that, just get a pedal. For practice I have a Zoom ms50 in the loop of Soldano mini. Has a bunch of reverbs, delays, phaser, flange whatever you want.Works great.

I appreciate that. I have a WA Fathom over here. It's good, but not really what I'm looking for. Pedals, here I come. Thanks.
