But will it be the proper Tool for the job?
I think that’s what makes stuff like this even worse. This guy TOTALLY knows better and is just hoping someone thinks this is the same deal as the old one. He's a good guy and runs a good shop. I don't know what he's thinking here with this one, though.
They have regularly had some of the most egregious price gouging I’ve ever seen. I would never give a gouger of this caliber any business. This is actually preposterous to ask this much for a colored faceplate. Guaranteed they are hoping someone doesn’t know better and buys it.Ok, I’ve been WAITING for this thread.
I like Diablo Guitars, but this is one of the biggest stretches I’ve seen. These are 2010 Silverface circuits with a blue faceplate—not actual Blueface-spec VH4s. Reissues usually sell for around $5k. $20k is the price for a real Blueface.
Also, just to clear the air—they’re not misinformed. I actually called them about a month ago before this listing went live. They mentioned getting a Blueface in on trade, and I was ready to buy it sight unseen. But then they told me it was the reissue, and I said, “Bummer, that’s just a standard VH4 with a blue faceplate. If it were the real deal, I’d take it.” The guy totally understood and even took my number in case they ever get a legit one.
So no, they’re not confused—they know exactly what this is.
Ridiculous. I picked up a used Marshall cab with the good g12-65s for $500 not long ago, actually $550, the guy charged me an extra $50’to open the amp and take a pic. They do sound really good. Both clean and high gain are great.
