This it the final layout I decided on. I'm doing waterslide decals on a plexiglass plate then spray painting the background color. I've printed the decals and will hopefully be able to do the plate this weekend.

I did the faceplate over the weekend. It looks great, better than I was hoping for. It took a couple of tries to not mess up the decals and get them smooth. First attempt I tried a one large piece which didn't work well. The decal just bunched up and folded over on itself as I was trying to place it. Second attempt I cut out smaller pieces which worked perfectly, though I wasn't sure if the edges would show after being painted. They didn't. Everything looked nice and smooth. I am even pleased with the way the color I chose came out once dried.

I was checking it out this morning after the paint fully dried and realized a major fuck up where I will have to start over. I purposely offset the holes so there would be more open space on top to leave room for the shell face overlap. To my horror I put the decals on the wrong way where the open space was at the bottom. Dammit to hell!!!

On the bright side at least I got some practice, know it can look good and I have more than enough material to make several. Even though I can't use it, here's the final product. Hopefully the redo will look just as good.
