D-Moll Landed

I am just going to piggyback here and say that I love my dmoll; been playing it regularly for a few months now and it just delivers. Crushing riffs, singing lead, gorgeous purrrrrrring low-gain for thick blues, nice jazz cleans or chime, it is all there. Lots of attack. Mostly played Nailbombs through it, I just love that sound right now; cabs are BXXXer v30s and that works well, of course it has tons of very controlled lows but that's ok. ;) Also it matches well with my buddy's Blackmore.

Quote my buddy last rehearsal "dude WTF??? What was that? I just got the weirdest seimic shaking going from my feet up to my heart????" Yea, sorry, my bad, I hit the low E, "Deep" was left at 12 o'clock and I had taken the casters off the cab! :D

The EU price-point really makes it a no-brainer here.

Got a huge bottom end doesn't it? It's a skirt blower for sure. I like it best through a Diezel front load V30 412 cab as opposed to the rear load Mesa. I don't get caught up too much into pick up selections, but with PAF humbuckers, it is great. It will loosen your dentures.

Hope i can test drive the D-Moll in one of the shops here any time soon
Im really hoping to find something to compete with my Herbert

This D-Moll is just so nasty...... :D

My wife even wandered out to the cave to see what was playing.... :inlove: :inlove: :inlove: She immediately eyeballed the familiar Diezel logo and asked if it was new. Hard to slip a new Diezel in. Marshall mods aren't a big deal as they look the same to her. So, in addition to the cost of the amp, I just had to book us 9 days in Bali at the Banyan Tree with business class travel. This D-Moll just ended up costing me well over $12,000....

Finally got to really air it out with some volume. Ended up going back with the 77's to tighten it back up a bit. 34's were good at lower volumes, but the 77's track better and hold together when you wind it up. Good tube choice here. Got to get busy setting up some MIDI switching with the GCX while waiting on the Diezel foot switch.

Just ordered a road case too. One sure way to tell that this amp is staying......

Oh, Channel 3 of the D-Moll with the mid cut engaged has some familiar voicing too, from Channel 3 of another popular Diezel :D

hey, u got me a ticket also, gee thanks your a good pal.
Next time turn the head around so she can not see the front, works well at my place. She will think u r changing tubes.
Got an idea, maybe fake marshall cardboard head that slip over the heads. Or just tell her u r holding it for me for a couple months/ or i lent it to u,,,

Ha! My husband gave mine the same look and then asked the same thing. Then the guys in my band got there and said it looked liked something from Blade Runner. As soon as we started playing they all had their jaws drop. It's a badass fo shizzle.

So this D-Moll is starting to get some acclaim amongst the masses. This is good news.

We know the VH4 is the reigning King of Diezel tone.
We know the Herbert came along with 2 extra tubes and a penchant for brootz (midcut being the game changer)
Hagen came along, sort of a slippery VH4 meets 4 tube Herbert. It's very playful.
Einstein was a brilliant amp but needed some technological advancement; enter D-Moll.
Schmidt is the Grand Opa of Diezel jazziness and class.

Hmmmmmmmmm.... Make me wonder what else could POSSIBLY come from the Diezel camp :D

Uncle Mo ;)

Steve do you have any reservations in telling us if the D-moll is closer to the VH-4 or Herbert? I'm really not a big fan of many of the Diezel amps other than the VH-4... however that goes without saying the VH-4 is my favorite amp on the entire planet and at this point I've owned 6 of them (I have a problem).... but the price point of the D-moll is very attractive...

Not really looking for a comparison because all Diezels have their own thing going on... but does it have the huge low mid growl like the VH-4?

I just got off the phone with Brad and placed an order for one..
I should have it next week.

It's in the hybrid camp for sure and is going to lay somewhere with the two. I spent the day dialing it in with the mid-cut always on across all 3 channels to get what I am after in the amp. Oh, and the mid-cut is MIDI controlled now for assignment. It's going to hit all the controlled articulation that you find in the VH4 and Herbie and there's a good range in all the EQ. It's not as dark of an amp as the Herbie and has some of the sizzle on top. It's got quite a few layers and textures going on with the separation of frequencies. It doesn't get mushy or flubby on bottom and tracks well. There's plenty of growl on where you need it. Doesn't take much on the gain side either. On channel 2 and 3, I am only running the gain around 10:00 and the channel masters around 1:00. There's gobs of bottom end and the bass I am running around noon and depth about 1:00. The mid cut intensity and level run around 1:00. Has 3 really distinct channels that are just right up my pipes! The GCX gets phantom power now from the amp with a 7 pin DIN. So, hooking up and programming the controller was easy enough. Running through a frontloaded Diezel 412 with V-30's.

Sounds like the amp is everything that was advertised.

So is this one gonna get some stage time? Let the thunder roll on down with some Creeping Death...

For sure. Using it and band practice today to see how it sits in the mix. Got a feeling it will handle the task very well. Funny you say that because Creeping Death and Master of Puppets are two reference tones that any amp has to display for me to use. Channel 3 with the right mid cut setting crosses that loose Marshall / scooped IIC+ line very well. Also, big into anything with Jerry Cantrell's DNA on it and another reference tone I allude to. Channel 2 with the right mid-cut handles Dirt era AIC in spades.

It's just an extraordinary, Swiss Army Knife sort of amp. It can surely simplify a rig. The MIDI switching of all 7 functions is seamless and quiet. Of course, Peter's loops are the best in the biz. Keeping an MXR Carbon Copy on all the time in the parallel loop with some faint repeats to widen things a bit. Channel 1 with the gain dimed is is up in the AC/DC territory and smack it with a TS, it has its on thing going on too. All the channels clean up well rolling back the guitar volume. And, it's quiet. At the gain levels needed, no gate is required for annoying feedback like many others.

It's a beasty little fecker....
